CIS-166: Grading Application

Purpose: To validate entries for a student's homework and calculate the points
earned.
The application is based on the homework for this class. Eight points are possible
for planning documents, and 17 points are possible for the project itself. A student
can earn zero to eight points for planning documents, and 100%, 85%, 70%, and
50% of the 17 points for the project.
Homework turned in on-time gets full credit. Homework turned in within two days of
the due date receives half credit, and homework more than two days late gets a
zero.
Information that is also needed:
 Student name, which is required;
 Course, which is 2 to 5 letters and 3 digits; and
 Assignment number, which must be between 1 and 10 (inclusive).
The application should make sure that data is correctly entered and calculate the
points earned.
 Identify each data element, including data type and any rules that must be met
for the data to be valid (accepted).
 Layout a form for capturing the data. Determine what kind of control(s) might
help user entry and meet data rules.
 Describe the steps needed to test data.
 Describe the steps needed to calculate points earned.
