AP Euro Renaissance Study Guide

Benson's AP European History personal study guide covers the Renaissance period. It discusses how the Black Plague devastated Europe in 1348 and reduced competition, increasing individual rights. It also talks about how religious skepticism arose from the plague and the Great Schism. The guide then covers the power struggles between city-states in Italy, with the powerful Medici family ruling Florence through banking. Finally, it notes that the Renaissance saw a new focus on education and the material world, with humanists studying classics but rejecting aspects that contradicted religion, while stressing individualism.
