The Process of Developing Assessment

This document outlines the key phases in developing an effective assessment for English language learners: planning, development, administration, analysis, and reflection. It emphasizes choosing an assessment type that fits the intended purpose and what abilities need to be measured. A good assessment also requires a detailed specification describing what is being assessed, the skills tested, formats used, and expected performance levels. The assessment process should be transparent, involve collaboration, and include analyzing results, providing feedback, and reflecting on ways to improve future assessments.
