Emergency Procedures for Hazardous Cargo

This document contains a deck plan and cargo information for a ship carrying hazardous materials. It provides instructions for responding to fires or spills of three different cargoes being transported - sodium permanganate, toxic medicine liquid, and hexafluoropropylene refrigerant gas. The response procedures include raising alarms, notifying officers, wearing protective equipment, using water spray, and other containment measures. It also includes a segregation table to ensure incompatible cargoes are properly separated on board according to international maritime dangerous goods codes.

From the segregation table, the following is the segregation for the cargoes given :
5.1 6.1 2.2
5.1 1 x
6.1 1 x
2.2 x x
* 6.1 is the subsidiary risk for Barium bromate and hence cannot be segregated for 5.1.
(IMDG Vol.1 Chapter 7.2)
The segregation codes extracted form the above table shall be
used in conjunction with the relevant table for segregation of
cargo transport units on board container ships (see right) to
decide upon the stowage of the containers onboard our ship.
Keeping in view the above requirements, we can now plan the stowage
of the containers onboard.
