INTRODUCTION
A driver's license or driving license is an official document that states that a
person may operate one or more types of motorized vehicles, such as a
motorcycle, car, truck, or a bus, on a public roadway without in-vehicle
supervision. Different categories of license exist for different types of motor
vehicles, particularly large trucks and passenger vehicles.
In Nigeria, they are administered by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). A
driving license is required in Nigeria by any person driving a vehicle on any
highway or other road defined in s.192 Road Traffic Act 1988 irrespective of
ownership of the land over which the road passes thus including many which
allow the public to pass over private land. The legal driving age is 18.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
Drivers licensing is a job that requires accuracy of data and this exercise is
required for every new registration. So lots of people come over to the
licensing office for registration and renewal of drivers license, hence,
resulting to the large crowd that is always witnessed in licensing office. Going
by the manual method of issuing license to drivers, licensing officers
encounter a lot of problems which includes:

Delay in issuing driving license to vehicle owners
Irregular renewal of drivers license
Loss of revenue by government due to fake registration papers and
time spent in the registration process.

The aim of this project is to develop a Drivers license registration and

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
The research work will be conducted by using different sources of relevant
data for research like online surveys, journals, books and reviews of relevant
literature. The requirements needed for the development of this application
will also be gotten from a review of existing systems. The system will be
implemented in a web application which is going to be programmed using
ASP.NET with C# and the database to be used will be SQL server.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY


Both the number of vehicles and the population are growing in Nigeria and
as a result, the demand for new or prolonged drivers license is getting as
high as never before. Therefore, the significance of this project is to take
advantage of technology and the internet to make the registration and
issuance of the Nigerian Drivers License process easier and more efficient.
Here are other purposes of the system:

1. Registration done on the internet so as to avoid crowding of licensing


offices
2. Registering using the National Identity Number (NIN) so as to
harmonize all biometric data as directed by President Muhammadu
Buhari, reduce redundancy and authenticate the persons identity.
3. Confirm eligibility of the driver through the NIN, for instance to check if
a person claiming to be 18 years is actually 18 years.
4. Reducing the cost of governance due to reduced paper work and
reduced number of staff needed.
