CRAZY

LOVE
Prologue
A tall man in a black suit stepped inside the President’s
office. His face was looking rather tired as he made a bow inside,
giving his respect to the old man that is sitting perfectly still on
the President’s chair.
Thetall man walked toward the president and laid upon his
desk an envelope containing the information he needs for his
plan.
“Be sure not to waste my time again, Cheng.” the President
warned.
Sunlight from the clear glass-wall reflected in the old man’s
glasses, making him look scarier than he usually does. The tall
man flinched.
‘It was past midnight when I finished that research,
Dammit!’ he stopped himself from muttering it in front of the
President. He put on a smile instead and then nodded as a reply.
“She’s the daughter of Mr. Joo, one of the stockholders of
your company,” he said calmly, pressing his palms together as he
speaks.
“Not only does she have a good family background, sir,
she’s smart and talented too,” He stopped, but then decided to
add. “She’s definitely different from the others before, sir.”
The
president then pulled out the papers in the envelope and
busied himself on examining its contents. There was a moment of
silence. Mr. Cheng waited for the president’s response but
received nothing.
Then at last, the President threw the papers neatly on his
desk.
“This girl…are you sure that she studies in Sun Dong
High?”
Mr.
Cheng clenched his teeth and answered. “Of course, sir,
majoring drama and theatres. She’s constantly on the top rank.”
Squinting
his eyes, the president took off his glasses. “That’s
the school of Kyo-rin’s orphan, if I’m not mistaken?”
“Yes, sir.” Mr. Cheng smiled slightly.
The
President sat straight and stroked his chin. “I heard he’s
a genius.”
“They always compete on the top rank…so that may mean
he’s really good,” Mr. Cheng answered proudly, sensing that this
might get the President’s attention.
“What do you mean by THEY, Cheng?”
“The boy’s major is in drama and theatres too, sir. The same
year as well.”

CHAPTER I
stupiD surprises
Mr. Ji-Hyun
I let out a laugh. “I never really dared to ask any news about that filthy orphan
of Kyo-rin. Never liked the fact that they brought an orphan to their family. MY
FAMILY to be exact.”
Still standing stiffly, Cheng nodded in agreement.
I stroked my chin and stared at the papers on my desk. ‘They have the same
year? So that means—.’
Lounging on my office chair, I smiled and shot him a look. “Tell me more about
this girl you’re talking about, Cheng.”
“Well, she already got so many offers in the past few days,” he pointed out a list
on one of the papers on my desk. “It’s already her last year in high school, you
see.”
I nodded, looking over at what he’s pointing. “Continue.”
“Rumour says she already accepted some of her offers. But I’m sure that she’ll
start becoming an actress still shortly after her graduation,” he suddenly looked
at me intently and in a slight whisper he said. “And same with HIM.”
I already knew what that meant. Probably, they accepted the same offer. Kyo-
rin’s orphan. Hmmm…are they going out or something?
“Are the two…uhh…you know?” I asked hesitantly.
“Sir? Well, I’m not so sure about that but I there is a possibility,” he confidently
answered.
What the—?! I clenched my teeth then slammed my both hands on my desk. I
easily get mad, you see.
“Why THEN did you recommend that girl to me? What if they’ll plan to marry
next?!” I glared at him, ready to drag him out of my office.
What’s this?! Just when I thought that she’s the one…he says she’s already
taken?!
“I…it’s only a possibility, sir. B-But I already contacted her father…so don’t
worry,” Mr. Cheng was starting to get nervous.
I calmed a little. I hid my smile to him so that he could continue looking
terrified.
“And what did he say?” I asked with a stern look.
“Yes,” he croaked. “He said yes.”
“He agreed?” A crescent smile appeared on my face.
“He accepted that you could meet her daughter,” he replied with a relieved
expression.
I smiled at him evilly. “That could mean that—.”
“Yes, sir, which would probably mean that she’s not committed to another
man,” Mr. Cheng interrupted, smiling slightly now.
“It’s finished then, Cheng,” I tried not to look too satisfied in front of him. “You
can go now.”
“S-Sir?” he stared at me.
I sneered. Somehow, I feel excited all of the sudden.
“Sir, I…” he began.
“Yes, Cheng,” I interrupted and leaned on my chair. “I’ve decided that she’ll be
the one.”
He nodded. “Thank you, sir. But this coming Saturday next week…
“His father agreed that you’ll be able to meet his daughter already. Lunch,” he
said it with a little worry in his voice.
There was an awkward pause…
I couldn’t think of anything to answer. I was too excited…how could I forget to
ask when will be our meeting?
I let out a laugh to hide my humiliation.
“Oh yes, right…uhh…Cheng, do you think they’ll like each other?” I asked,
changing the subject.
“…? O-Of course, sir. I guarantee.”
I laughed again. “She’s smart right? I wonder if she’ll like a guy like Shin.
Shin’s a little…oh, you know what I mean.”
Danica Joo
“What?! Tell me you’re kidding Dad!” I yelled at my father for the first
time. “Those people? God, Dad, I can’t believe you. Why did you accept
it without telling me?!”
“They’re not just PEOPLE, my sweet. That man who called was the
personal assistant of Mr. Ji-Hyun! And do you know who Mr. Ji-Hyun is?
He’s the President of the company where I work! Who knows if I get a
promotion?”
“You already got your promotion, Dad,” I reminded him. “And I just
cannot accept that you’ll exchange me for MONEY.”
“E-Exchange you for what?! NO, no, no!” he shook his head hysterically.
“It’s not like that.”
“Like what then?” I crossed my arms and glared at him.
“W-Well…it’s like, you know…”
“That’s it,” I made a teary-eyed expression. “Listen to me, Dad. Look at
me.”
He looked at me timidly. “Don’t tell me you’ll use that tactic again,
Danica.”
“Do I mean nothing to you?” I began.
“You mean everything to me, my sweet. OH NO! You won’t fool me
again…so stop.”
‘Oh yes I can’ I thought, and then I let a tear roll down my cheeks. “How
could you do this to me then?”
Dad quickly turned to look away. “No you don’t.”
I smiled evilly and then continued in my most sorrowful voice. “My
freedom…my everything…how could you just give it away? You’ll
choose money rather than your own daughter’s life?”
“Stop using you drama lines in school, sweet,” he answered back, now
looking at me at last. “And who told you that I’m not thinking of you? Of
course I am! This is for your own good too.
“AND don’t you talk to me like that ever again, Danica,” he raised his
voice this time. Now I could feel his stiffness. God, this is trouble for me.
“But Dad, can’t you understand?” I persisted.
“Can’t YOU understand me too?” he emphasized. “I’ve always given you
everything you wanted. Now, can you please give me what I want this
time, just for once?”
“I’ll give you everything you want, Dad,” I insisted. “I’ve got a job
already…after my graduation. But not this—”
“My sweet…your mother would agree to this too. In fact, she’ll also be
the one asking you this, I tell you.”
I smirked and shook my head. “NO. You’re wrong, Dad. She would
MAKE ME CHOOSE whether or not…to marry that ugly git.”
“Oh, for heaven’s sake! Don’t call him like that, Danica!”
I stormed out of our study room at once before anything else happens,
leaving my father inside who was looking mad as ever.
I heard him call my name, but I didn’t dare to look back. It was really my
first time to have a fight with him.
Ok, well yeah…we fight most of the time…but they’re JUST a couple of
kid fights, you know. It’s nothing to worry about.
But then again, back there. Argh! I thought at first it will be ok. But no!
He’s totally serious about it. He really wants me to marry that little
bastard!
I continued my way to the hall, leading me to my room. I thought I heard
footsteps so I quickly run inside and then closed the door.
Hmm, the footsteps are gone…or was it just my imagination?
Great. He didn’t even bother to come and stop me.
Mom…what’ll I do?
I DON’T WANT TO MARRY A GUY THAT I DON’T EVEN WANT
TO MEET.
Shin Ji-Hyun
This can’t be happening! That old geezer must be insane again! A
fiancée? $#!@!!” I punched the air in front of me.
This is what I’ve dreaded him to do ever since my father died a year ago.
But I’m still in high school for peeps sake! It’s too early for me to get
married!
I threw myself in bed and glared at Mr. Cromwell. He’s a Korean-
American bodyguard of mine…a gift from hell for short.
He’s wearing a black suit today as usual, but a pink and black necktie this
time. I wonder what’s inside this punk’s closet. I stopped myself from
imagining anything about it.
I suddenly stood up and told him that I’m gonna take a shower already.
Not because I’m almost late in school…but just to cool my head off a
little. I just couldn’t stand him anymore. And his news—Urgh…I’m
gonna puke.
As I walked pass him, I could see through the corner of my eyes that he’s
smiling.
This punk…what’s he smiling at?
*****
I get it. So THIS is what he’s smiling about. I glared at Mr. Cromwell as I
went near to my grandfather. I could hear my heart pounding. The aura of
his living room gives me the creeps.
“How’s school?” asked my grandfather with his usual grin.
I frowned at him and made a face that say. ‘Just tell me what you want
coz I’ve got no time for this!’
He chuckled. “I guess you already know my good news…Cromwell?”
“I’ve already told him, sir,” answered Mr. Cromwell, bowing slightly.
I smirked. GOOD news? Ha!
“What’s your plan this time?” I asked, looking straight at my grandpa
without wavering.
“[Link]. This kid,” grandpa frowned, shaking his head slightly. Then he
stretched his hand and handed something. “I just wanted to give you a
wife, that’s all.”
It was a picture. As I took it, I stopped my hand from trembling in front
of him. If he notices any slight nervousness in my actions, he might take
advantage of it.
“She’s cute,” I told him with a bored expression. But I admit…that girl in
the picture is pretty nice.
He laughed. “Love at first sight?”
Psh. It’s the first time he’s talking about love to me. Disgusting…
“Yah, even if she’s pretty…or worse…sexy. I tell you this, I-DON’T-
CARE. I’m marrying no one,” I crumpled the picture and threw it away
from me. Then I made a snotty face and brushed my hands together like
there was dirt or something.
He chuckled and opened his drawer. “And if ever there’s someone out
there who owns the name ‘no one’…that’d be her.”
He took out something and placed it on his desk. “I’ve got more of her
pictures, don’t worry. ”
I smirked. ‘This cheesy old man’.
Then I made a fake smile. “You’ve told me everything, GRANDPA?”
He cleared his throat, still smiling. “Well, you’ve seen her picture…and
you already know her name…so I guess were done.”
Psh. You still didn’t tell me her name, stupid. I sighed. Anyway, why
would I want to know that girl’s horrible name?
“Good,” I murmured as I stood up. “I better get going then…I’m late.”
“Oh yes, yes…off you go then,” he stood up as well, grinning wildly.
“TO YOUR NEW SCHOOL.”
I nearly lost my balance. Now, WHAT DID HE JUST SAY?! “W-What
do you mean NEW?!”
“Oh! I nearly forgot, sorry,” He sat down again. “Let’s take a minute
again, shall we?”
I glared at him furiously. Really, why is he doing these things?! I could
really feel how he’s enjoying this. It’s already creeping me out! God I
HATE THIS GEEZER!
*****
“New major?! *&@#!” I shouted angrily.
The limousine is already heading toward my new school. I think I’m
going crazy! “Drama and theatres...can you believe that?! 2 nd semester is
already starting! Why’d he change my major! @*&#! I don’t know
anything about those stupid %$#@!”
“Shut up already, ok? I can hear you here! Before you start yelling again,
young man, would you mind turning off the mike so that I won’t hear you
here?” Mr. Shun, my chauffeur, shouted back. “You were yelling and
cursing just before you came in! Until now, you’re still doing it! I’ll be
deaf any minute now, you!”
I groaned loudly. “Why can’t he just kill me instead?! Mr. Shun…kill
me!”
“You idiot! Do I look like a murderer to you?” shouted back Mr. Shun.
“Come here then! Just now, I feel like killing someone.”
I stopped myself from laughing at that. Mr. Shun is really the sort of
person who can change my mood so easily.
But come to think of it. At least there’s still some good news. AND IT’S
A BIG ONE.
I stared out the window, smiling slightly. Who would’ve thought Mr.
Cromwell and his gang won’t be my bodyguards anymore? Ha. So cool.
Going to school without bodyguards means I CAN DO EVERYTHING I
WANT!
*****
“Hi, I’m Mrs. Kim…and you must be Shin,” my new adviser greeted me
with her sweetest grin. “Your classmates are already having their
snacks…have a seat.”
I forced a smile.
“I’m really sorry, ma’am,” I told her as I took my seat. “Grandpa
should’ve told me earlier that I’ll transfer to a new school today…then, I
shouldn’t have been late.”
Great. Now I’m stuck here with my new class adviser. What more luck
can I get?!
“It’s ok. I understand,” she chuckled. “Are you hungry, my dear?”
She started to get up. Crap!
“No, I’m ok, ma’am.” I quickly answered to stop her. I can’t let her give
me some food. I really want to go out here as soon as possible.
“Are you sure you’re not hungry? What about some juice then,” she
insisted, smiling brightly at me.
Psh. God I hate her smile. It’s probably the fakest smile I’ve ever seen in
my entire life. “I’m really ok, ma’am, I’m still full.”
“Well, alright,” She took her seat again.
I sat up straight. Now that’s what I’m talking about.
But then she looked at me intently. Uh-oh.
“I heard that you’re good in acting, my dear. They accepted you here
because of that talent I’m sure.”
S#@%. Damn, who told her that?
“I…” What am I suppose to say?! I forced a laugh.
She grinned. “You took your test last week, right? They didn’t tell you
that you passed when you were dismissed?”
I smiled.
“Well, maybe they told your grandpa about it and he decided to have you
surprised.”
I sniggered. Hey, I’m not lying, ok. I haven’t told her anything yet.
“Did Miss Park herself tested your skills or…Danica and Mico?”
$#*@! That’s it! Why so many questions?! I’m the student here, not you!
And who the hell are they anyway?! I didn’t even take any crappy test,
God Damn it! How am I supposed to answer that question?!
I restrained myself from shouting recklessly at her face.
Then suddenly…a phone rang. My heart rose.
“Oh!” she suddenly grabbed her purse and took out her phone. “Excuse
me, dear.”
I took out a deep breath as she went out of the room. Really, this is crazy!
*****
I sniggered. I just can’t believe this. For sure, grandpa used his money to
transfer me into this school.
I sat alone on a bench, staring blankly at the school grounds of Sun Dong
High. I’ve never thought that this school would be this huge. But still, I
sighed, it’s not like it’s larger compared in my old school.
Students are already having their own classes.
Hey, I’m not cutting classes, alright. Grandpa will kill me if I’ll do that.
Actually, Mrs. Kim told me that I can take the whole day wandering
around in Sun Dong’s campus along with a student she assigned to assist
me.
I’m pretty sure that she knows that it’s my first time to come here. For
you see, Sun Dong High is my former school’s rival.
I smirked. Unbelievable right? I mean, what the hell were they thinking?!
Transferring a student here who came from Han Sul High?! They’re
incredibly insane!
I glared at the grounds for a moment.
If you’re asking about the girl she assigned to be with me. Well, I just got
rid of her with a little tactic of mine.
I stood up with a grin. Sheesh, I’m missing my friends already. If they
were with me, God knows what they’ll gonna do to that girl.
I wonder…if they already know what happened.
*****
Sun Dong’s theatre is obviously separated from the drama and theatre’s
building. It’s as huge as their building, but much larger.
Hmm? Why not go there inside? It’s probably open for all the students,
right? Hey, my major’s already in drama and theatres…it’s not like I’m
gonna intrude. And as I started to walk, my phone rang.
*****
Meeting after school?! In the theatres?! Well, that’s not good news for
me. I can’t help feeling a little troubled when Mrs. Kim called me to tell
this.
I decided not to go to the theatre after that phone call. Not that I’m
nervous from running over to someone…like a teacher or somethin’.
Maybe it’s just that…I kinda want to eat.
I went inside the canteen. There were only a few students around having
some snacks.
I sighed. I have no choice but to make a few lies in here. I’m sure they’ll
wonder why the school permitted me to transfer into this school…and
with a different major, my God.
*****
I pushed the heavy door open, hoping that I’ll find the theatre empty. But
apparently, I saw the opposite.
Everyone turned their heads to look at the late comer. Geez…I’m getting
a little embarrassed already.
Forcing a smile, I walked toward them to take a seat. Shoot. I look like a
jerk.
When I managed to reach them, an odd looking woman stood up
suddenly on the front row.
I took a glimpse of her as I sat down beside a weird looking guy with
glowing blue eyes.
“You must be that new boy they told me about,” she began; her voice was
rather high-pitched, I nearly freaked out.
“Come here in front, my dear,” she ordered me. I can’t tell if she’s
glaring at me, but I don’t care really.
YEAH RIGHT, the looks of her. I just know that this ugly witch has
something in mind. But I obeyed her immediately though…
The students began whispering again.
“I heard how you got accepted here, boy,” She gave me an amusing
smile.
Everyone got silent, making me feel nervous as I made my way in front.
But of course, I tried to walk the way I used to; looking cool and all.
She put out a laugh and said. “You have quite a talent, I heard.”
Ahaha. Now THAT’S a compliment. But still. Those were all lies!
However, something about her tone of voice made me think that she’s
thinking the other way around. She knows something for sure. Urgh. I
hate the thought of that.
At last, for what seemed like hours, I was already standing beside the
witch.
“Anyway…seniors, listen up…you all probably don’t know anything
about your new classmate,” she announced proudly.
I pushed a smile again as the students began murmuring uncontrollably.
“Yes, yes…this school don’t usually want students transferring here…
and especially when 2nd semester’s already starting!” she continued.
What the—. What’s with this witch?!
I stopped myself from glaring at her and managed to stand in front
without wavering; facing the students and the whole lot; they began
staring at me like I’m a mad man or something.
“If I remember it well, this school doesn’t usually permit students to
transfer here on this kind of month,
“In fact…it NEVER DID,” She continued talking blatantly in front of
everyone.
Ok. That’s it!
And just when I opened my mouth to talk back…
“Tell us your name, boy,” she ordered me again.
Ha! I’m no ‘boy’ you ugly witch!
But I answered her anyway. CALMLY by the way. “Shin Ji-Hyun,
ma’am.”
The whispering grew louder.
The witch grinned. Suddenly, I sensed that she’ll make me do something
stupid. God, I hope not.
“Go up the stage, boy,” she ordered me again. “And introduce yourself to
my club. You’re still not part of this club because you still have to
impress me.”
“What? I-I mean…” I stared at her.
Did she just say…CLUB? Mrs. Kim didn’t mention that!
“What, you’re surprised?” asked Miss Kim, noticing my reaction.
“New comers must introduce themselves, everyone knows that,” she
grinned widely.
Urg. Who said I’d like to be a part of your club?! HELL NO, MAN!
“Make sure you’ll do your best though, coz if you’re not lucky enough to
pass this club…you’re dead. That means…you won’t graduate this year.”
Uhh…What? No way! So that means…I REALLY have to be in this
club!
“Y-you mean…all those students whose majoring drama and theatres…
are part of this club?”
“All the SENIORS, stupid boy, not all STUDENTS,” she laughed, and as
I’ve expected, the students joined her.
I don’t know why…but she’s totally embarrassing me in front of
everyone ON PURPOSE. I hate this witch.
“Up the stage, NOW!”
I jumped a little. Now that was just freaky.
*****
I had to squint my eyes because of the lights. Damn, standing on stage is
tougher than I thought. But it’s good really, this way I wouldn’t be able to
see the crowd’s faces clearly…
“Now, you ready to act?” she asked me, as she put on her glasses.
I stared at her…ACT?! “I…did you just say that—.”
“ACT, you stupid boy,” she ordered me. “Anyway, you passed in this
school because of that talent, right?”
Everyone got silent all of a sudden.
“I—I thought I’d just introduce myself,” I reminded her, keeping my
voice still. I’m really getting nervous now.
She smiled “Yes, of course, you’ll introduce yourself…by ACTING. By
showing us how good you are.
“We don’t want to know who you are or anything about your dull life,
boy.”
Everyone laughed again. I clenched my teeth. Then she silenced them.
“Mr. Shin Ji-Hyun,” she emphasized. “Don’t tell me that those were all
lies.”
I gripped my fist tightly to control myself from killing her.
