Load Test On DC Series Motor

The document describes a procedure to conduct a load test on a DC series motor to determine its efficiency. Key apparatus include an ammeter, voltmeter and connecting wires. Measurements of voltage, current, speed and spring balance readings are taken under various load conditions. Calculations are done to find torque, input power, output power, and efficiency using standard formulas. Graphs are plotted between relevant parameters like efficiency vs speed, output power vs torque. The aim of determining the motor's efficiency is achieved through this load test procedure.

LOAD TEST ON DC SERIES MOTOR

AIM:
To conduct load test on DC Series Motor and to find efficiency.

APPARATUS REQUIRED:
S.No. Apparatus Range Type Quantity
1 Ammeter (0-10)A MC 1
2 Voltmeter (0-300)V MC 1
Connecting
3 2.5sq.mm. Copper Few
Wires

PRECAUTIONS:
1. The motor should be started and stopped with load

PROCEDURE:
1. Connections are made as per the circuit diagram.
2. After checking the load condition, DPST switch is closed and starter
resistance is gradually removed.
3. For various loads, Voltmeter, Ammeter readings, speed and spring
balance readings are noted.
4. After bringing the load to initial position, DPST switch is opened.
