A. Introduction

Today, most all of the people are dependent on the technology that helps them

improve their ways of living. Luckily, the advancements in technology are inevitable.

The unlimited wants of the people made the development of technology fast. From the

first 2.4m by 0.9m computer named ENIAC that was invented by J. Presper Eckert and

John Mauchly on 1943 to today’s compact and powerful computers shows the relentless

wants of the people that made the evolution of technology fast. These improvements may

help in some basic task or it may significantly improve the people’s way of living and

performance in work. With the help of the technology that is available today, the teachers

who are having a difficult time in managing the data written on the papers about the

information of his/her students may be solved. The principal of Baliuag South Central

School asked the proponents if they could create a simple Students Information

Management System that performs basic tasks. The proponents believe that the project

that was given to them by the principal will be helpful in managing the basic information

of the students.

The Offline Students Information Management System will provide an easy

access of students’ information. This program will help the teachers in storing and editing

his/her students’ basic information. This program will reduce the time the teachers spend

in searching for the information of his/her students.

B. Project and Context

The proponents created the Offline Students Information Management System

according to the preferences specified by the principal of Baliwag South Central School

Mrs. Marilyn P. Samson. The Offline Students Information Management System contains

the basic information of the students, these information are the LRN of the students,

name, age, gender, address, birthdate, name of the student’s mother and father or

guardian and the contact number of parents or guardian.

The Offline Students Information Management System allows the teacher to

store, add information, and edit the information that is stored in the database. Basically,

this program allows the teachers to manage the data that they store in it.

With the knowledge that we have today, with the technology available and with

the help of additional researching, the proponents will finish this simple but helpful

system that the client specified.

C. Purpose and Description

The proponents created a simple management system to help the teachers in

storing and managing the data or the basic information of the students. It is simple but it

can lessen the time that the teachers spend in searching the information of his/her student.

This project will serve as an inspiration for the current and the future researchers

to improve their programming skills. This simple project will serve as the first step of the

proponents in the massive world of computer programming. They will use the experience

and the knowledge that they have acquired while creating this system in the corporate

world where their skills and knowledge will be tested and improve if necessary.

This project can be helpful for the future capstone researcher because this study

can be a guide and reference for the future researcher, they can use this as a basis in their

future research and they may also use this project to improve theirs. The future

researchers can also use this as a source of knowledge and concepts.

D. Objective of the Study

To create a functional and user-friendly system that will help the teachers in

storing, searching and managing the information of their students.

Specific Objective:

 To substantially minimize the time that the teachers spend in managing

and searching the information of the students.

 To create a way for the teachers to easily store and access the information

of the students.

 To meet the client’s needs.

E. Scope, Limitation and Delimitation

Scope

The Offline Students Information Management System focuses on the basic

information of the students that is provided by the students themselves, how the

information is organized in the database and the search function that allows the teacher to

search a student and manage the student’s information quickly. The OSIMS is simple; it

contains the information of the students which can be accessed by the teachers by typing

a name of a student in the search engine. The system is composed of 3 major elements; if

one of the elements is missing the system will not work. First, the database this is where

the information of the students will be stored and organized. Second, the search engine, it

is a simple engine that works like the normal search engine like Google. Third, the

display or GUI, this is what you will see when you use this system; it contains the search

engine and the spaces or the forms where the information should be typed. The system

has a very simple and user-friendly flow. When you run the system, the first thing that

you will see is the log-in, after logging in the user will be redirected to the Main Menu

where the user will see the Add Student button, the Search button and the about the

developers. If the Add Student Button is clicked, it will reveal another GUI that will
allow the user to add, update or delete the information of the student and if the about the

developers button is clicked it will reveal some information about the developers.

Limitation

The system has no internet capabilities which mean it is not connected to a DepEd

website and is for local use only.

Delimitation

The proponents and the client agreed that the system should only display the basic

information of the students. The proponents made the system simple, user-friendly and

straightforward because the proponents believes that this system should help reduce the

time that is spent while searching for a certain information. The proponents’ knowledge

in programming using GUI and database is currently limited because they only started

studying the database and GUI during the 2nd semester of the academic year 2017-2018.
F. Review of Related Literature

Students Information Systems are flexible is an important software on all schools

and universities. It provides a record of the information of the students that are enrolled in

a certain school. It may start from a simple system and soon it can become a multi-

million system because of the constant changes in technology and with the help of expert

developers. Education cannot escape from the constant changes of the technology (Bonig,

R., 2012) since mid-to-late 2000s Students Information System encountered a lot of

upgrading and retrofitting because of the relentless advancement in technology. It is

important to the schools and universities around the world because it records the

information of the students enrolled in a school
