Peer Observation 3

Nouf Alshehhi, a student teacher, had her lesson on states of matter observed by Maryam Bin Thani. Nouf wanted feedback on her classroom management, lesson planning, time management, activity setting, and assessment. Maryam noted Nouf's clear student engagement, identification of grouping formats, and creative activities as strengths, and suggested focusing more on classroom management, providing more explanation before activities, and improving time management. After discussing the feedback, Nouf agreed to focus on explanations and instructions to better engage students during activities.

Peer Observation Number:
Date/Time: 18 of October 2018 Name of Student Teacher to be observed:
Nouf Alshehhi

Setting: Groups of 4 Grade: 6

Topic for the lesson Name of Observer/Critical Friend:

States of matter Maryam Bin Thani

Learning Outcomes:

Students will be able to know that some materials will dissolve in liquid to form a solution.

PEER OBSERVATION: AREA OF FOCUS (e.g. the student-teacher wants to look at how well she
uses the 5Es or how well she questions)

I want to observe:
- Classroom management
- Lesson Planning
- Time Management
- Setting arrangement
- Activities
- Assessment
- Learning objectives written in board
Observed Strengths: Suggestions for further development:

 Use more material in the class  Focus on classroom management

 Clear engagement at the beginning  Explain more before you start the activity
 Identify grouping format (Individual and  Time management
groups)
 Creative activities
 Clear assessment

Reflection (to be completed after discussion of Peer Review with colleague):

I believe that making a peer observation of colleagues could teach us how to learn from their area of

development while we are teaching. My colleague listens carefully to my feedback and she agreed with areas

of development that she needs to improve. Nouf mentioned that she will focus on the explanation and the

instructions that she use. I think that it was a valuable experience because I learned that if the teacher used

clear instructions before starting the activity students will be engaged while doing the activity.
