Digital Logic Design Digital Dice: Abstract

This document describes a digital dice project that uses LEDs and a switch to simulate rolling dice between two players. Pressing and releasing the switch generates a random number from 1 to 6 using a 4-bit counter. If a 6 is rolled, the player must take another turn. The digital dice eliminates cheating and ensures random numbers, making it suitable for games like Ludo, snakes and ladders, and poker.

DIGITAL LOGIC DESIGN

DIGITAL DICE

ABSTRACT:

The project is a digital dice. It comprises of two led’s that represent two players. Both these

players take turns at rolling the dice. The rolling is controlled through a switch. Pressing and

releasing the switch generates a certain frequency at which the counter operates. This frequency

depending on the time period the switch was pressed generates a random number between 1 to 6.

In case the number generated is 6 the Led of the player does toggle therefore the player has to

take one more turn till any number other than 6 is generated besides the led that shows the player

there is a led marked again. The again led is such which will indicate that the player has to take

the turn again. The project uses a counter designed using D Flip flops. The counter is of 4 bits.

To toggle the leds T flip flop is used. The output of the counter is given to the binary to decimal

converter which in turn displays the result on a 7-segment display.

APPLICATION:

Digital dice can be used in many different games. This dice eliminates the chances of cheating

and using any kind of other unfair means to generate a number of choice. The dice generates

completely random numbers due to the high frequency at which the counter operates.

Digital dice can be used in the game of Ludo, snake & ladder, and different kinds of poker.
CONCLUSION:

As we are entering the age of technology there is a need of digitalizing everything. It is a

cumbersome process to take care of a dice and to make sure that the players do not play any

tricks with the dice to win the game. Considering this the design of digital dice is such that it

generates random numbers on each press of a button. It only gives values between 1 to 6.

Moreover, the digital dice has a display which tells which player has to take turn. If the number

generated is 6 than the led of player 1 will keep glowing else the led will toggle and the other

player will take turn. In case of generation of 6 for the other player the led of that player will

keep glowing to indicate that the player has to take turn again.
