Mobile Security

To keep your mobile phone secure, take the following steps: encrypt your data and enable device locking; disable form autofill and automatically remembering passwords in browsers; check app permissions before installing and limit unnecessary access; use WiFi and Bluetooth in hidden mode and don't use public networks; and disable diagnostics, ad-tracking, and geo-tagging to protect your privacy. Regularly backup your data, encrypt it with strong passwords, and enable remote wiping in case your device is lost.

MOBILE PHONE SECURITY

Basic Security
1. Write down the IMEI ( International Mobile Equipment Identity )
number for tracking your mobile in case you lose it.
2. Install apps from trusted sources only , Android (Play Store) &
Apple iOS ( App Store).
3. Feature of Auto-updation in OS and Apps be enabled.
4. Encrypt your data stored on mobile.
(a) Android : Settings > Additional Settings > Privacy > Encrypt Phone
(b) Apple : Settings > Touch ID & Passcode > Enable Data Protection
5. Backup Data regularly in a computer / online cloud storage and encrypt using strong
password.

Authentication Security
6. Enable device locking using passcode / pattern / finger print / Face ID.
7. Enable Auto-Lock Timeout and Disable ‘Make Password Visible’.
8. Enable feature of Erase data upon 10 failed passcode attempts.
(a) Android : Enable Passcode/ Phone Lock
(b) Apple : Settings > Touch ID & Passcode > Erase Data

Browser Security
9. Disable ‘Form Auto-Fill’ & Automatically Remember
Passwords.
10. Enable showing of security warning for websites.
11. Disable Cookies & JavaScript.

Application Security
12. Check the features/ permissions of an application before
installing.
13. WhatsApp & Facebook have default permission to access :
Identity & Device ID, Contacts, Calendar, Location, SMS, Phone, Photos/Media/ Files, Camera/
Microphone.
14. After installation limit unnecessary access to Contacts & Data from Mobile Settings.

Network Security
15. Use Wi-Fi & Bluetooth in hidden/ undiscoverable mode.
16 Enable Ask before Joining Wi-Fi Network and Don’t use public Wi-Fi Nws.

Personal Privacy
17. Disable Diagnostics, Ad-Tracking & Geo-Tagging.
18. Restrict your activities being monitored by Google
Google Account > Data & Personalization > Activity Controls.
18. Enable Remote Wiping of data in case of loss of Mobile Device.
19. Erase all data & reset to factory settings before return, repair or recycle.
