320+ in 30 Days

With
The SMART Strategy
Introduction:

Preparing for your GRE isn’t an easy task, especially if you just
have 30 days to crack a top score.

In this eBook, we want to provide you the best tips to ensure

that you can reach your target, even in 30 days.

With a careful analysis of 1000+ 320 Scorers at GREedge, we

developed the S.M.A.R.T Strategy.

Learn how you can overcome your barriers in getting a 320+

with this exclusive strategy.

You can do it too!

SMART

Study Plan: Immediately upon enrolling with us, students are

assigned two trainers - one for Verbal, one for Quants.

To understand the current proficiency level, strengths and

weaknesses in-depth, it’s best to take a diagnostic test that
replicates the real GRE exam

Want to evaluate your current preparation level and get a

detailed analysis too?

Try the free GRE Diagnostic Test here!

Apart from proficiency, GREedge personal trainers analyse the

following things based on the diagnostic test:

1. What types of questions trip you up

2. Which areas of the GRE syllabus should you spend more
time on
3. How good are you at managing the limited time available
4. How do you react under pressure/stress if you are unable
to solve questions etc.

Then a study plan is created for students. It’s very important to

allocate time to study consistently and prepare well for the
exam.
SMART

Study Plan: Make sure you also customise your study plan
entirely to your needs. If you’re free, accomodate more learning
whereas if you’re short of time, focus more on the weaker topics
to make them your strengths.

Here is a sample plan of a 320+ scorer’s 20 day study plan:

SMART

Measuring Progress:

The second step is to ensure you measure the progress of every

individual section. Immediately after learning a particular topic,
practice it regularly and clear any doubts that arise.

Constant feedback is the key to ensuring you overcome the

weaknesses, without carrying it forward during the preparation.

Compare your performance with other students also preparing

to understand exactly where you stand when it comes to the
preparation plan.

For example, at GREedge, students can compare their scores

with other students targeting the same score. They can gain an
understanding if they’re doing well or falling behind which helps
them boost their preparation as well.

Here is sample of student’s performance in RC preparation.

SMART

Adaptive Lessons:

When preparing for a high score in limited time,

Prioritization is your friend!

Here’s an interesting principle to help you prioritise!

The Pareto principle states that: 80% of your scores come from
20% of your efforts!

Identify and FOCUS on that 20%, and 80% of your work is

already done!

Let us now take at look at the representation of each topic

(based on number of questions) in GRE Verbal and Quants!
SMART
SMART

Therefore, it is clear that HIGH-PRIORITY topics in GRE Verbal

include:

1) Reading Comprehension and

2) Text Completion

Whereas HIGH-PRIORITY topics in GRE Quant include:

1) Arithmetic,
2) Algebra, and
3) Geometry
SMART

So what kind of a score can you target on your GRE based on

your diagnostic test score and following the Adaptive style of
learning?

In our experience of training more than 36,000 students, we’ve

noticed that students who score 320+ in GRE usually score
anywhere between 305 to 320 in their diagnostic test.
SMART

Adaptive Word Learning: The GRE vocabulary comprises as

many as 3500+ words! However, it’s not possible to learn all the
words. In that case, at GREedge, the verbal trainers can assign a
priority list of just 500 words, based on data mined from
multiple years’ GRE questions.

You can also use the WordBot app, to access word priority list
and prepare to perfection with picture tools, synonyms,
antonyms and pronunciation guides. There are different themes
for easy learning as well.

SMART

Regular Practice:

As a working professional, or a busy student, many don’t have a

lot of regularity when it comes to GRE preparation. It’s best to
practice immediately after learning a new concept so that you
can implement it in the right way.

Regular practice also means giving GRE style adaptive tests so

that you get adjusted to the style of testing. This means in the
real GRE test, you’re better prepared and know exactly how to
approach it, lowering your pressure and nervousness.

Follow these key steps to ensure you practice regularly.

● Set aside the same time everyday for your GRE practice. It
can be in the morning or even after midnight. This becomes
a habit and ensures regularity.
● Get the Wordbot app and go through the words, to master
them whenever you’re free, for example if you’re travelling
to college or taking a coffee break at work.
● Mark your doubts and revise them the following day so that
you build consistency in checking doubts and
understanding them better.
● Dedicate atleast 1 hour everyday to your GRE preparation.
Set aside any distractions for a focused study period, which
will help you build up the concentration for practice.
SMART

Regular Practice:

Even though most students are engineers, giving them an

already existing proficiency with GRE Quants, scoring between
165-170 requires quite a bit of practice. However, preparing just
for 30 days reduces the amount of practice you can get.

So, with that in mind, you can just focus on the key areas of
Quant that you find the most difficult and spend a lot of time
learning all the formulae that you’ll need to use in the exam.

If you’re serious about targeting a perfect score in Quants, with

limited time to spare, you can get the exclusive formula list too,
absolutely free, here!

SMART

Time-Management: Coming to the last and most crucial part of

preparing for your GRE! Befriending time!

It’s recommended that you spend not more than 90 seconds on

each GRE question and not more than 30 minutes per essay.

In order to ensure that our students don’t face a time crunch

during the GRE, all practice sessions are timed and recorded to
see how much time is spent on each question or topic using the
millisecond tracking technology.

Shown below is data of how much time students take to

prepare for each topic!
SMART

How to manage time effectively? Here are a few pointers from

GREedge trainers for students who prepare in a very limited
span of time:

1) Practice using the on-screen calculator that you’ll be

needing during the GRE exam.
2) Use smart shortcuts to tackle Quants problems that can
save you a lot of effort and time!
3) Learn skim reading to read RC passages quickly.
4) Don’t spend too much time on a single question; if you’re
not sure about the answer, you can always mark it for
review and come back to it later if you have time.
Remember that there is no negative marking on the GRE.
5) Elimination techniques can help you with effective
guesswork in situations where you’re not sure about the
answer.
6) Take adequate timed tests in the same pattern as the GRE
before your exam so that you get a feel of how to manage
your time on D-day!
7) Keep your calm and don’t panic on the day of the test. Try
solving the questions you’re sure of first to get a head start.
