BGP/OSPF Setup for WF Admins

This document provides instructions for configuring BGP and OSPF routing on two routers. It includes steps to configure BGP routing with IBGP and EBGP peers, setting route maps and filters. It also includes configuring OSPF routing locally and assigning router IDs and networks. The goal is to establish routing between the local routers and remote sites using two geographically diverse routers for redundancy.

BGP/OSPF configuration

For Admin Sites

Using Two (2) routers
1.1.1. BGP Configuration:
Note: Locally, the routers run OSPF and IBGP to each local peer. Remotely the WAN routers run EBGP to
peer RAM, one geographically diverse RAM per router. Where router 1 goes to RAM1, router 2 goes to
RAM2.

When in this mode you will see a prompt “Hostname(config-router)#”

1.2.1.1. Type router bgp 6499x press enter ↵.

X = 8 for RAM02 (MPLS/DMNS) X = 9 for RAM01 (MPLS/TMPE)

you will see the following

Hostname(config-router)#

1.2.1.2. Type no synchronization press enter ↵

1.2.1.3. Type bgp router-id xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx press enter ↵

X = Loopback0 interface IP address
1.2.1.4. Type bgp log-neighbor-changes press enter ↵

1.2.1.5. Type network xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx mask 255.255.255.255 press enter ↵

X = Loopback0 interface network address
1.2.1.6. Type network xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx mask yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy press enter ↵
X = Subnet address Y = Subnet mask. Repeat this command for each local LAN network.
1.2.1.7. Type neighbor RF peer-group press enter ↵

1.2.1.8. Type neighbor RF timers 12 48 press enter ↵

1.2.1.9. Type neighbor RF remote-as 65000 press enter ↵

1.2.1.12. Type neighbor RF filter-list 1 out press enter ↵

1.2.1.13. Type neighbor RF advertisement-interval 5 press enter ↵

1.2.1.14. Type neighbor RF password xxxxx press enter ↵

1.2.1.15. Type neighbor xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx peer-group RF press enter ↵

(Replace X’s with the IP address of upstream RF router. Use WAN IP address of RF)

1.2.1.16. Type neighbor IBGP peer-group press enter ↵

1.2.1.17. Type neighbor IBGP remote-as 64999 press enter ↵
