Normal Distribution LP

This document is a semi-detailed lesson plan for teaching statistics and probability. The lesson plan aims to teach students about the normal distribution, its properties, and how to locate values of z. Students will be divided into groups and assigned values of z to present. The teacher will facilitate an activity where students determine the area under the normal curve for given values of z. For homework, students must determine the area for additional values of z.

a. Prayer
b. Greetings/Attendance
c. Checking of the cleanliness and orderliness of the classroom
ACTIVITY # 2 - “ 1, 2, 3, LET’S GO!”
1. Divide the class into 7 groups.
2. Each member of the group should have there designated assignments and name tags;
a) Group Leader
b) Assistant - Group Leader

3. Each group will have an assigned value of z.
4. After 10 minutes they will present it in front of the of the other groups.
5. The teacher will facilitate the activity.

IV. ANALYSIS
1. How can you locate the value of z?
2. Can we figure out z from a graph?

V. ABSTRACT
THE NORMAL DITRIBUTION
A Normal Distribution is a distribution of a continuous random variable whose graph is a
bell-shaped curve called Normal Curve.

PROPERTIES
A normal distribution has then following properties:
- its curve is bell-shaped.
- its curve is symmetric about the y-axis.
- the mean, median, and mode coincide at the center of the distribution.
- the distribution is unimodal.
- its curve is asymptotic with respect to the x- axis
- the total area under its curve is 1.

STANDARD NORMAL DISTRIBUTION

Since the appearance of the normal curve depends on the distribution’s mean and standard
deviation, there must be infinitely many different normal curves. In order to make use of its
properties, statisticians came up with a way of transforming every normal curve to what we call a
standard normal distribution/curve.
A standard normal distribution is a normal distribution with mean of 0 and standard deviation
of 1. Basically, any normal distribution could transform into this type.

VI. APPLICATION
Determine the area of each of the following value of z.
1. z < 2.5
2. z < -0.15
3. z < -1.5
4. z < -1
5. z < 1.67

VII. ASSIGNMENT
Determine the area of each of the following;
1. z > 3
2. z > -0.03
3. z > -1.64
4. z > 3.13
5. z > 1.96
