Kaneiji Temple

Kiyomizu Kannon Temple
Kiyomizu Kannondo was originally built in 1631 as part
of Kaneiji Temple. Its design, including a wooden
balcony extending from the hillside, was inspired
by Kiyomizudera in Kyoto. The temple is home to an
image of Kosodate Kannon, the goddess of conception,
and is particularly popular among women hoping to have
children.

Rikugien is often considered Tokyo's most beautiful
Japanese landscape garden alongside Koishikawa
Korakuen. Built around 1700 for the 5th Tokugawa
Shogun, Rikugien literally means "six poems garden"
and reproduces in miniature 88 scenes from famous
poems. The garden is a good example of an Edo

Hachiko Statue
A statue of a loyal dog named Hachiko. According to a
famous story, the dog waited for his master every day in
front of Shibuya Station, and continued to do so for
years even after his master had passed away. It is one of
Tokyo's most popular meeting points.
Shibuya Crossing
As I already mentioned, the Shibuya Pedestrian
Scramble is the star attraction in Shibuya but also in the
whole of Tokyo. Peak hours are early morning from
around 7 am to 9.30 am and just after work, starting
around 5 pm until very late.

culture in HARAJUKU
Harajuku refers to the area around Tokyo's Harajuku
Station, which is betwee Shinjuku and Shibuya on
the Yamanote Line. It is the center of Japan's most

Togo Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Admiral

in SHINJUKU
Shinjuku is one of the 23 city wards of Tokyo, but the
name commonly refers to just the large entertainment,
business and shopping area around Shinjuku Station.
Shinjuku Station is the world's busiest railway station,
handling more than two million passengers every
day. Shinjuku is also one of Tokyo's major stops for
long-distance highway buses. A large bus terminal,
named Busta Shinjuku, is conveniently located on top of
the railway station.

The 243 meter tall twin towers and surrounding

At first glance, the infamous red light district,

Golden Gai is a small, atmospheric nightlife district in
Kabukicho packed with over 200 small bars and eateries.

Omoide Yokocho
Omoide Yokocho (memory lane), also known under its
more colorful nickname Piss Alley, is a small network of
alleyways along the tracks northwest of Shinjuku

kushiyaki. Many restaurants consist of just one counter
with some chairs, while others have a couple of tables.

Nikko had been a center of Shinto and Buddhist
mountain worship for many centuries before Toshogu
was built in the 1600s, and Nikko National Park
continues to offer scenic, mountainous landscapes, lakes,
waterfalls, hot springs, wild monkeys and hiking trails.

Toshogu Shrine
Toshogu Shrine is the final resting place of Tokugawa
Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate that

Rinnoji Temple
Rinnoji is Nikko's most important temple. The temple's
main building, Sanbutsudo, houses large, gold lacquered,

a thousand arms") and Bato-Kannon ("Kannon with a
horse head"). Opposite Sanbutsudo stands the temple‟s
treasure house and a small Japanese style garden called
Shoyoen.

Shinkyo Bridge

Kintaikyo and Saruhashi in Yamanashi Perfecture.

Kanmagufuchi Abyss
Kanmangafuchi Abyss was formed by an eruption of
nearby Mount Nantai. This gorge near central Nikko is
only a few hundred meters long and can be enjoyed from

known for its row of about 70 stone statues of Jizo, a
Bodhisattva who cares for the deceased.
