USER QUICK GUIDE FOR CREW
LOGIN
In order to login to the XChange Box:
Connect your PC or smart device to the local network
(LAN) or wireless local network (Wi-Fi).
Launch your internet browser and enter
http://xchange.box.
Enter your user credentials on the login page.
PLEASE NOTE
When your device is connected to XChange box with software version 4.2 the
browser directs user to xchange.box automatically in case he or she tries to open
a website without active data session through Xchange Box.
PLEASE NOTE
Your username is a combination of the first character of your first name and your
complete family name (for instance jsmith for John Smith). Your password to
have access to your Xchange account consists of 10 characters if you are
registered by someone else than you, while an 8-digit numeric code that is
composed of 4-fixed and 4-variable digits needs to be provided before you make
with table phone on board.
WARNING
If your login fails, your credentials might be invalid, your account inactive or you
are not granted to access the network with your profile.
MY PROFILE
Once logged in, check and personalize your account via My Profile:
Check your remaining credit or request more.
Change your password and Pincode (last 4-digits only).
Check your account type for communication (either local allowance, postpaid or Universal Card TM).

Monitor your usage for voice and data based
on various criteria such as type, period and
terminal.
Personalize your favourites (for instance add

Learn your data and voice usage limits under
‘Authorizations’
Be aware of call price in advance by providing
a phone number to reach with ‘Telephony
costs’
CREDIT TOP-UP
Captain may allow crew to request credit top-up. If this
function is enabled, click on the ‘Credit Request’ icon in
the dashboard.
In the credit request page you can see your monthly limit
and the remaining amount of credit you have.
Your request may apply automatically or must be
approved by the captain – it depends on the settings.
COST CONTROL
Depending on your account type, the XChange Box offers a real-time cost control.
Check your last communications (incl. costs) via My
Profile > Usage.
If you have a limited allowance, the XChange Box
indicates your remaining calling time before each voice
call.
When initiating a data session, your remaining credit is
always displayed in the top section

DATA SERVICES
Go to Home and verify which connection is
currently available under: Home > Connectivity.
If you are allowed to use the activated terminal,
click ‘Connect’ on top of the screen. The firewall
applied to your profile is loaded and your
bookmark page pops up as soon as the
connection is established.
Browse the web.
To stop the data session, go back to the XChange
Box portal and click ‘Disconnect’ under on top of
the screen.
PLEASE NOTE
During a data session, you are not able to close the box portal. If you try, your
data session will be closed.
TELEPHONY SERVICES
Pick-up a phone and press ‘0’. Listen to the available options and choose one of them:
‘1’ for external voice call
‘6’ for Universal Card call
‘9’ for local call
For option ‘1’ dial the international destination followed by the ‘#’ key. Note that you may be asked
to enter your 8-digit PIN code followed by the ‘#’ key if the phone requires user authentication.
Example: external voice call + countrycode with zeros + number + #
1 + 0049 + 123456789 + #
For option ‘6’, wait until the connection to the Universal Card service has been established and
follow the standard Universal Card procedure using your 12-digit Universal Card PIN.
For option ‘9’, dial the local extension number you want to call followed by the ‘#’ key.

PLEASE NOTE
The XChange Box selects automatically the next available line for you. A voice
message reports which terminal is used and the price per minute for that call. If
no line is available, a voice message reports that no terminal is available.
WARNING
If you are using a private smartphone and have access via Wi-Fi to the box, use
your account details to be able to use the XChange Box with your device. The
cases desscribed above remain valid.
LOCAL INTRANET
Additionally to your personal account, you have access to a local intranet shared among the vessel:
Local Library (documents, manuals, software, movies, …)
Company news and Technical alerts
FAQs & Help documents
For any questions regarding the content of these items, please contact your IT administrator.
XCHANGE MEDIA
In case your employer has activated this service you may enjoy videos with different topics:
- news
- magazines
- reports
- sports
- and even more.
The service does not need data usage and has no cost on crew side. New videos are uploaded every
single day in order to provide continuous entertainment.
