This technical service bulletin describes work done on a Yanmar harvester with a noisy gearbox. The technician checked the transmission oil level and friction plates which were normal. Upon inspecting the center shaft, abnormal wear was found. Disassembling the gearbox revealed a worn center shaft, which was replaced along with checking other components. The harvester now operates normally without abnormal sounds after reassembly and a test run. Regular checks of gear oil and for leaks are suggested to prevent future issues.

Subject

Changing the center shaft

Problem/ Complaint
Gearbox noisy

Symptom
It isn’t working regular and gearbox abnormal sound .

Troubleshooting /Service Step


Firstly, we check the transmission oil level. It was ok. We check the left side and right side friction plate and pressure
plate . It was ok. We check to continue, open the center shaft cover in gearbox and inspected used to fit special tools.
We are founded the center shaft abnormal. So, we are disassembling the gearbox. We found the center shaft wear.
We replace new center shaft and check reduction shaft and other all . We assemble the gearbox and test run . It was
ok and normal sound.

Analysis
-Check transmission oil level.
-Check forward and reverse direction.
-Check friction plate and pressure plate.
-Check the center shaft and reduction shaft.( Using special tools)

Action and Suggestion


We should be checking gear oil and oil leakage regularly.
