IV. Procedure
A. Preparation
TEACHERS ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIVITY
A. Preparation
a. Greetings Good Morning Sir!
Good Morning Class!
b. Prayer
May I call ____ to lead
the prayer Amen!
c. Checking of Attendance
Class Secretary kindly
check the attendance of
your classmates Everybody is present sir!
d. Checking of
Assignment
Did I give you an
assignment class? No sir!
B. Motivation
Teacher Activity Student Activity
The teacher will show a picture in the
screen which is the “color bind test”
Picture 1. Answer: ?
Very good!
Picture 2. Answer: 12
Very good!
Picture 3 Answer: 29
Very good!
Picture 4 Answer: 5
Very good!
Picture 5 Answer: 74
Very good!
Are you all visually healthy? Yes sir!
That’s great!
C. Lesson Proper
Teacher Activity Student Activity
Before we proceed to the main topic
which is the resistor color coding let us
know first the different terminologies in
resistor color code
What is resistor Resistor is an electronic component that
reduces the electric current
Thank you very much
What Is Resistance? Resistance (R) is the ability of resistor to
reduce current
Thank you very much
What is Ohm?
Thank you very much Unit of resistance
K Thousand
M Million
Let us now proceed to the main topic
which is the resistor color coding
There are three most important
characteristic of a resistor 1. Resistance Nominal Value
2. Tolerance
3. Power Rating
Steps in determining the value of
Color Coded Resistor
1. Hold the resistor. Look for the 3
colors which they are near on each other.
Place it on your left.
2. Look for the 1st color
The first color represents to the 1st
significant digit of the resistor
3. Look for the 2nd color
The second color represents to the 2nd
significant digit of the resistor
4. Look for the 3rd color.
The third color represents to the number
of zeros
5.Look for the 4th color
The fourth color represents to the
TOLERANCE of the resistor
1st Note: NEVER use color BLACK
as the first color band of the resistor
2nd Note: Only Gold and Silver are the
2 colors that can be found in the 4th band
Do the reverse. Determine the colors
of the resistor.
D. Activity
Teacher Activity Student Activity
(The teacher will let the students to
select their partner)
The teacher will provide the colored
resistors.
Each pair will get three colored
resistor.
They will determine the value of the (Students will do the activity in pair)
resistor
They will write their answer in a 1
whole sheet of paper.)
The time starts now! Make a clap or
a yell if you are finished
E. Generalization
Teacher Activity Student Activity
Based on what you have learned in this
topic, who can now share their learning? I have learned that resistor color coding is
important in order to know the value of
the resistance of the resistor
How do we determine the value of a Trough it’s color bands.
resistor?
How do we know which color
corresponds to which number? By using the Resistor Color Code.
What are the 2 reminder in 4 band
resistor color coding? 1st Note: NEVER use color BLACK
as the first color band of the resistor
2nd Note: Only Gold and Silver are the 2
colors that can be found in the 4th band
Will you please give yourselves a
Donisya clap.
And now please bring out a ¼ sheet of
paper.
V. Evaluation
A. Identify the value of resistor with the given set of colors.
1. Brown, Black, Brown, Gold
2. Red, Green, Black, Silver
3. Brown, Green, Orange, Silver
4. White, Yellow, Yellow, Silver
5. Green, Violet, Blue, Gold
B. Determine the colors of the resistor
6. 12 ±5%
7. 47 ±5%
8. 100 ±10%
9 37,000 ±5%
10. 22,000,000 ±10%
