(Your answers will be graded on the basis of the rubric provided.)
1. Is R.A. 1425 considered a victory for the Catholic Church? Why or why not?
- Base on the discussion above Catholic Church oppose the bill mandating the
reading of Rizal's novels Noli Me Tángere and El Filibusterismo, claiming
it would violate freedom of conscience and religion. So it is so obvious that it is not a
victory for them.
2. Rizal’s life, works, and writings particularly his novels, Noli Me Tangere and El
Filibusterismo, shall be included in the curricula of all schools, colleges, and
universities, public or private, as long as they are original or unexpurgated editions
of these novels. Explain this.
- There’s a lot of opposition in Rizal’s life and works because of some content that
might bring negative impact or not good to the readers and listeners. But it can be
accepted in schools, colleges, and universities, public or private if there is no
changes occur from the original content of his life and works. In short, it must be
complete and no parts should be removed.
3. If the Rizal Bill had not existed before and it was proposed today, would there be
objections to it? Why or why not?
- I think there some objection or opposition to it. The same objections before will be
still the same objections today but there will be only few because of some realization
of the oppositions before.
