Decision Making & Leadership Analysis

Faizan and Abdul need to purchase 10 gaming computers for their business. Faizan identified key criteria for the purchase like processors, graphics cards, RAM, and motherboards. He assigned weights to each criterion but did not consult Abdul in the decision making. Abdul observed that Faizan used an autocratic leadership style and an intuitive decision making strategy rather than a more objective rational strategy. For their second decision, Abdul needed to modify 10 motorbikes into cafe racers. He identified decision criteria, assigned weights, developed alternatives, and selected Suzuki as the best option using a rational strategy. Abdul employed a democratic leadership style by involving others and considering their suggestions.

Decision Making Strategies

Faizan’s decision strategy was intuitive and based on his
[Link] my opinion,he should have used rational decision
making strategy as it is a multi-step process for making choices
between alternatives. The process of rational decision making
favors logic, objectivity, and analysis over subjectivity and
insight. The rational model of decision making assumes that
people will make choices that maximize benefits and minimize
any costs.
Leadership style
Faizan’s leadership style was [Link] made this decision
alone without consulting anyone [Link] my opinion,he should
have adopted democratic leadership style. Democratic
leadership style is considered to be one of the most effective
for leaders in executive positions, and it can bring myriad
benefits to an organisation. A democratic leader is one who
invites participation from others in the organisation as part of
the decision-making process. Under their leadership, everyone
is encouraged to participate, leading to increased feelings of
involvement, recognition, and satisfaction.

2ND OBSERVATION
LEADER: ABDUL SAMAD
OBSERVER: FAIZAN FAROOQ
We need 10 bikes of 150 CC and then we need to modify them into Cafe
racers to attract our audience which is middle class and upper middle
class specifically. By modifying 10 bikes into café racers we will be able
to expand our business in the market and will be able to attract larger
audience for making our business successful. We need to carry out this
operation using the lowest possible budget and by using the best possible
raw materials and services in affordable prices because we have limited
budget. We need to allocate our resources in the best possible way to get
maximum output. The steps carried out by the leader are as follows.

Decision Making Strategies

The decision-making strategy used by Samad was Rational as each step
of the process is followed in a logical manner and is carried out by a
thought process in which the alternatives are allocated with some weight
and then the best alternative is selected keeping the weights in sight.
Leadership Style
Samad is a Democratic or Participative Leader as he includes other
people while decision making process and gives importance to the
suggestion of other people. However, he also maintains the final
decision-making authority.

Evaluation of Decision Making

The decision making was efficient. The rational decision-making
strategy was used by Samad which was right for our business operation.
He followed each and every step in a logical and professional way.
Every step was carried out carefully after deep research and planning.
Weights were allocated to all the decision criteria. The best Alternative
was selected for the business which was Suzuki and it proved to be
successful as Suzuki was the most effective and efficient.

Observations about the Leadership Style

The leadership style used by Samad was democratic. He not just used his
strategies in the decision-making process, he also involved others and
asked for their suggestions and ideas. In this way, maximum knowledge
and ideas can be shared with each other and we can make better
decisions rather than relying on your individual views and ignoring the
views of the other people working who might give you good advice. I
believe Samad opted for the best leadership style as it is also described
as the participative leadership style and it helps us to get access to
maximum ideas rather than just our own ideas by letting other people
participate with us. But the final verdict depends upon Samad as he is
the leader.
