VI. Procedure (Knowledge)
What do you think of when you hear the word “Raceway”? Maybe you
think of a racetrack where competitive speed event takes place,
involving cars or horses or video game characters riding go-karts. And
there's nothing wrong with that. That is, in fact, a “raceway”.
But, in another field such as the Computer Systems Servicing NCII,
raceway also refer to a “surface mounted wire molding”. Maybe that
doesn't clear it up very much, but basically what it refers to is a channel
to run cables through, that mounts on a wall, or a desk, or some other
surface, concealing wires or cables so your set-up looks nice and pretty.
Raceway
A raceway is a small, enclosed conduit, usually made of plastic, that
holds cables inside and is designed to run along walls. Raceways
provide better protection than staples or cable ties.

Latching Raceway
It is the tried and true, go-to solution for your basic cable management
needs. It's typically found in straight sections of various length (though
sometimes it's on a roll) and it usually features a hinged latching top.
You open the latch, pop some cables inside, and then close it back up,
concealing them from view

3
Crown Raceway
This Raceway Crown is designed to protect and conceal low voltage
wires, cables, data, voice, and fiber optic. It is easily mounted to your
wall and ceiling and has plenty of support by optional cable clips or
other methods

Corner Raceway
Probably a better bet. It's a quarter-round shaped wire molding that
blends into the wall/ceiling junctions or baseboards. It's like a crown
molding, but with the added functionality of hiding your unsightly
cables.

4
Wire Guard
It is a line maintenance tool that covers up wiring both indoors and out.
Wire Guard products protect outdoor wires from the elements like rain,
snow, the sun and even against some impact. Wire Guard
interior/exterior cable covers are low cost, light weight plastic moldings,
extruded in rigid HIGH-IMPACT Underwriters Labs (UL) compliant PVC.

Cable Runway Support
Cable tray support system's dependability is perfect for low voltage
applications such as power and communications cabling. Its modular
design supports an easy-to-install system that protects your cables
from damage and reduces the amount of space needed for cable wiring
and installation.

Fiber Runner Cable Routing System
This cable tray system for routing fiber optic cabling provides an enclosed,
protective raceway specifically designed for the needs of fiber. With a full line
of accessories and joints including elbows, cross and tee sections, plus covers
and fiber-duct slotted channels, you can create a comprehensive routing
system for your fiber installation

Cable Organizer and Tiers
Perhaps the simplest and most affordable cable management materials as
alternatives of the above raceways, these two plays a big role specially in the
course of computer systems servicing.

Cable Management System
With dozens, or even hundreds, of cables coming into and out of a patch
panel, switch, and the whole computer networks, it can be easy for things to
become quite tangled and messy. Unorganized cables can make
troubleshooting much more difficult, and can even lead to outages if someone
unplugs the wrong cable. This is why it is critical to keep organization in mind
from the first cable you plug in.

There are many things that a person can do to help keep a patch panel
organized, including: Patch Cable Organizer
Labeling Cables – All cables should be properly labeled at both ends,
and in many cases, along the middle as well. Having labels on the cables
will make it easy for technicians to confirm they are working on the
right lines.
Patch Cable Organizers – Patch cable organizers allow you to run lines
neatly and evenly to each port so you can see exactly where things are
coming from and going to.
Color-Coded Cables – Using color-coded cables will allow you to quickly
identify what type of cable is in each place.
7
Zip Ties – Using zip ties to bundle cables that are going to the same
server rack or other location will help keep things looking neat and
organized.
The most important thing when it comes to patch cable management is
having a good plan right from the beginning. It is much easier to spend a
little extra time coming up with a good way to run your cables than it is to
try to untangle hundreds of wires down the road.
