World Englishes

Course Description:
Examining English in reference to its origin, development and spread is an interesting and
extensive area. English Language becomes the tool of communication around the world that
paves its ways toward globalized language. Therefore, this course will provide the historical,
cultural, social, political and geographical development of English Language that is in fact a
study of Globalization of English Language. This course will start with singular idea of English
and discuss its pluralization that is discussion of its varieties, standards and regional variation
around the world. It will help out the learners in their key area, its scope and moreover about its
limits in reference to the whole world.

Course Objectives:
 To provide students an over view of history, politics and geographic realities of
Language.
 To introduce the framework of power, ideology and language with its different variation.
 To encourage students towards originality of language, its different aspects of analysis.
