CONVERSION RATE

OPTIMIZATION
ANALYST JOB AT
DATAVINCI PRIVATE
LIMITED
Conversion rate is nothing but the percentage of visitors who take desired action on
your website. Desired action can be anything like clicking on the sign up button or
the buy button. It is one of the important metric to determine the growth of your
business. Conversion rate plays a huge role in the performance of your business.
If you improve your conversion rate, it means you are more successfully convincing
visitors to opt for your business. This provides you with a platform for converting the
visitors into ready to buy customers. While saying that nurturing your leads into
customers helps increase sales is incredibly obvious, you might be surprised at how
much even a small increase in your conversion rate can affect your profits.
▪ Increase your customers and improve sales : Ultimately every business owner
wants to increase their customers and get more revenue at the end of the day. When
conversion rate optimization is implemented in the right way it will help you to
convert more visitors into potential customers.
▪ Get ahead of your competitor : The more visitors that you convert, the more you
step ahead of competitors. The more number of potential leads you attract more
revenue you generate.
▪ Capture potential leads : Not all of your visitors are going to be strong leads.
Conversion rate optimization helps to focus on visitors who are high quality leads.
▪ Improve user experience : The better the user experience more number of people
will visit your website and people will come back to your website yet again which
in turn will increase your sales
The task is to create a presentation suggesting 5 changes in three different web
pages, that I think can improve the conversion rates, with screenshots and other
items that I feel can help the presentation standout.

A countdown timer can be defined as a
virtual clock that counts down from a
certain date or number to indicate the
end or beginning of an offer or event.
While such timers were typically used
on landing pages, they’ve now found
their way to checkout pages, as well.
The main purpose of a countdown timer
is to create a sense of urgency and give
the feeling that “time is running out.”
In addition to this, businesses also use
countdown timers to count down to
when a special discount or offer will
become available. It can be used to
generate curiosity and keep people
interested and coming back.
A timely product recommendation can
lead shoppers to choose one product over
another. Look to your own experience for
proof.
Studies increasingly show the value of
product recommendations and the critical
role they play in personalization strategies.
Recommendations not only lift conversion
rates, they help deliver improved user
experience to keep visitors coming back
and can boost the average order value.
Once an ecommerce manager is
convinced of the benefits of a product
recommendation engine, the next step is to
determine product recommendation best
practices and configure the product
recommendation algorithm accordingly.
This is a best way to provide
immediate assistance to visitors on
your website. Adding a live chat
feature could help you convince
visitors in a better way, thus driving
conversions higher. According to a
study, it has been found that found
that adding a live chat widget
increased conversions by 31%.
Online shoppers have come to expect a
certain standard that they have grown
accustomed to on Amazon.
If your store does not offer free
shipping, customers are going to look
elsewhere, period.
In today’s market, free shipping is an
absolute must!
Think you can’t offer free shipping?
Keep in mind that this is often a
psychological game.
Increase your product prices to cover
shipping cost if that’s what needs to be
done.
Visitors may take more than one
session on your website to convert.
That is why capturing emails on your
site is crucial.
If you can effectively capture emails
through a pop-up, offer a coupon
code so you can continuously market
to them while they are in the
decision phase.
This will greatly increase your
conversion rates.
When you provide useful
information to your audience you are
gaining their trust to boost
conversions.
Try to add information box to
website. This should contain useful
data, including social proof, FAQs,
and statistics
Allow users to checkout without
signing up for an account.
You will have their name and email
address when they buy anyway.
Forcing the user to register is just
giving them another reason to leave
your store.
See image above to see how that
works.
Test results are a proof that the
product is successful and when the
tests are conducted through a
separate organization, it creates
more reassurance for the customers.
Highlighting such an element on the
page will influence customers as the
site expresses confidence.
Even if you have the best product in the
world, there is no money to be made if no
one knows about what you’re offering. One
way to gain a competitive advantage and
to spread work about what you’ve got is to
offer a free product trial.
When it goes right, a product trial creates a
win/win situation for your company and
your future customers. You’re getting to
show what your product does, while your
customers get to try it without the financial
risk of a purchase.
Companies which offer free product trials
will usually see a boost in their potential
customer base right away. When there is
no risk, then there’s no reason to not try out
a product to see what it does.
Utilizing user-generated content is an
excellent way to show social proof.
Across all industries, UGC has been
shown to boost conversions by an
average of 161%. Another factor to
consider is how images of real people
can help to increase the conversion rate
by 35%.
Instead of using stock images, why not
start using photos collected from your
users? Either by asking for
submissions or permission, you can
curate images from your existing
customer base and use them
accordingly in your blog posts. This
way, you can cement your credibility
and bolster collaboration.
Show a shopping cart icon with a link
to get to it after the user has entered
an item into the cart.
If they can’t find the cart they can’t
checkout.
Also, be sure to show customers what
they are actually buying as they
checkout.
As mentioned earlier,
BigCommerce’s optimized checkout
does this out of the box
Make sure that everything on your
checkout form is completely understood,
such as CVV and input formats.
In fact, if you can, I would have the fields
limit only what can be typed into certain
fields to make it easier for users.
So, when a user types a credit card
number, format it for them as they go along
to make it easier to read and harder to
mess up.
In a date field, don’t let the user type, but
have a date picker or dropdown.
Digital wallets help tremendously with this.
Digital wallets are payment processors like
PayPal Express, Amazon Pay, Apple Pay,
and others.
Videos are already being used as a
potent marketing method to project
your brand timeline, highlight value,
and forge relationships with
(prospective) customers in the
marketing funnel. A third of entire
online activities are spent in viewing
videos and integrated ads here, almost
doubling buyer intent and boosts brand
recognition by approximately 1.5 times.
Research into web use reveals that the
mean attention span of someone is a
mere 8 seconds (fallen by half since the
Millenium) – we’ve become less
patient. This technologically induced
effect has affected businesses that now
must strive to grab your attention with
effective landing pages.
Everyone prefers distinct traits and
this draws attention. Why not work
with major brands to showcase an
exclusive product range on your
ecommerce site? This will empower
your brand’s identity with great
publicity cum advertising and the
advantages will be symbiotic.
Likewise, influencers can focus or
direct/route traffic to your site (as
their advice will drive trust across
new users).
Filters are crucial in helping your
customers navigate and drill down to
the right products.
Do research and find out what are
the different questions your
customer share about products and
create filters on your category pages
for them.
For example, if one of your
customers’ main objections to
purchasing products is price, you
can create a price filter on the
category page and eliminate their
objection by filtering for products
they can afford.
