AR112 ARCHITECTURAL VISUAL COMMUNICATION 1 –
GRAPHICS 1
First Semester – School Year 2012-2022
Module 1: Introduction
COURSE DESCRIPTION: The study of visual communications, typography, alphabet of lines
and their applications and the use and care of instruments, geometric construction, use of
scale, mensuration and dimensioning. Emphasis is given to the study of the theory of
projection with analysis of the relationship between points, lines and planes in space.
Includes exercises on surface development and graphic presentation.
Number of Units: Lecture – 1 unit and Studio – 2 units
Number of Contact Hours per week: Lecture – 1 hour and Studio – 6 hours
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
1. Prepare typographic composition using architectural lettering.
2. Properly utilize drawing instruments and drafting paraphernalia.
3. Apply alphabet of lines and appropriate drafting techniques in producing geometric
drawings.
4. Prepare orthographic drawings.
5. Compile and submit portfolio of works.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
1. Regular Class Attendance. Attendance is checked regularly at the start of the class.
(Absences shall not exceed the 20% of the contact hours with the students in a
semester)

GRADING SYSTEM
The school requires professor to evaluate student’s academic performance by giving a
midterm grade and a final grade to be computed as follows:

Midterm Exam (MEX) --------------------------- 40%

COURSE POLICIES/ INTERNAL CLASS POLICIES
1. ATTENDANCE. Any student who will fail to attend his/her class shall submit an
excuse letter written indicating reason/s for being absent or failure to attend the
class. In case of medical reason, a medical certificate plus the excused letter must be
submitted to the professor on the next class meeting. Failure to submit the excused
letter and/or medical certificate will officially considered absent.
2. PROPER ATTIRE. All students are encouraged to wear proper decent attire during
online meeting. (Zoom, Google Meat etc.)
3. LATE SUBMISSION OF REQUIREMENTS. All late submission of requirements will not
be accepted except for meritorious cases.
4. ACADEMIC DISHONESTY. Any form of academic dishonesty (i.e. cheating in the quiz,
examinations among others) shall be subject to University Policies.
5. ACADEMIC FACULTY-STUDENT CONSULTATIONS. Teacher – student academic
consultation shall be done during the course period only.
6. Major Plate shall be given one or two weeks before the date of Examination. And to
be submitted on the day of Examination.
