Canteen Services and Student Performance
Canteen Services and Student Performance
The study evaluated student satisfaction with canteen services based on four aspects: service quality, cleanliness, price, and food quality .
The main objective of the study was to determine the satisfaction level of students with canteen services and to explore the significant relationship between this satisfaction level and the academic performance of senior high school students at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School .
A descriptive-correlational research design allows researchers to observe and describe patterns and relationships between variables without manipulating them, which is beneficial for establishing baseline insights. In the context of this study, it enabled the exploration of potential links between canteen service satisfaction and academic performance among students. However, its limitations include the inability to infer causation and potential confounding variables that might influence findings. This suggests that while the design helps in identifying whether a relationship exists, it cannot determine the direction or causality of the relationship .
The study employed a descriptive-correlational method to investigate the relationship between canteen service satisfaction and academic performance among senior high school students. The key finding was that there was no significant relationship between the satisfaction level with canteen services—measured in terms of service quality, cleanliness, price, and food quality—and the academic performance of the students. The correlation was of neutral intensity, suggesting that canteen services do not significantly impact academic performance at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School .
The study found a neutral intensity correlation between canteen service satisfaction and academic achievement. This suggests that further research might explore additional variables and methods to better understand the dynamics at play, including qualitative factors that were not measured, or longitudinal studies that track changes over time .
The researchers suggested that the study should be reinvestigated with consideration of other variables that might shed more light on the problem. This implies that future studies could explore additional factors or use different methodologies to better understand the potential relationship between canteen services and academic performance .
The findings suggest that while student satisfaction with canteen services is important, as it involves service quality, cleanliness, price, and food quality, these factors do not have a direct significant impact on academic performance. Therefore, school canteens might focus on these areas for student well-being and overall satisfaction rather than expecting to see improvements in academic performance. This implies a broader approach should be taken when integrating canteen improvements with educational outcomes .
The findings revealed that there is no significant relationship between canteen services and the academic performance of the respondents. The correlation was neutral in intensity, indicating that the satisfaction level with canteen services does not significantly impact the academic performance of senior high school students .
The neutral intensity correlation between canteen services and academic performance suggests that other factors beyond canteen satisfaction could influence academic outcomes. This could imply for educators or administrators that improvements in canteen services alone may not directly enhance academic performance, and that it might be more effective to consider a broader set of factors, including teaching methods, student engagement, and support services .
Participants for the study were selected through random sampling, and the sample size consisted of two hundred sixty-six (266) Grade 12 senior high school students from various strands at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School .
