INTERACT CLUB

REPORT
FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2020-2021

The academic year 2020-2021 was no ordinary year for the Montego Bay High School’s Interact
Club based on the fact that our club had to venture into the online space to conduct our weekly
meetings. The journey into the online space was a challenge for many other clubs but the
executive body of Montego Bay High School’s Interact Club was ready and rearing and as such
we were able to have a wonderful year in the online space. We wish to thank all students and
staff who have helped and supported us in our endeavours.

October 2020

On October 2, 2020 a tree planting activity was carried out by Akili Duncan, Keiara
Pinnock, Tasmar Alexander and Paris MacGregor in celebration of world tree
planting day. A poui tree, blue mahoe among several other trees were planted in the
community of Montego West Village. However the club conducted its first ever
online meeting on October 12, 2020 where we welcomed returning as well as new
club members and informed them about what Interact was all about.

November 2020

In the month of November the Montego Bay high School Interact Club celebrated
Interact week during the period November 3- November 6. To kick start our interact
week a Girl talk was hosted were our guest speakers Stania McIntosh, Levia
Campbell Lindxee Collins and Stanea McIntosh ( The Head Girl, Deputy Head Girls
and Student Council President) encouraged our members to keep motivated and
continuing pushing forward despite the challenges they may face. The following day
we had a movie night where our members took a break to relax their minds and
Netflix and chill. Lastly to end the week we hosted a Talent Show/Inter-Clubbing
where our club members showcased their talents and interacted with other Interactors
from different schools. The top three contestants included: Roshellee Doley, Sherrare
Campbell, and Abigail Willams. Other Contestants included Brianna Simpson, Jayan
Reid, Danrhia Clark.

December 2020

In the month of December we hosted an “end-of-the-year’ party with our club

members to acknowledge all we have done throughout the online space as well as
show appreciation to our members. Additionally we did a Christmas pixie project
where our members were given the name of another member and assigned the task of
preparing a virtual Christmas gift for that person.

January 2021

The Interact Club participated in the Montego Bay High School’s sixth form
association “Club Mash up” where our club competed with a variety of other clubs
from our school. We participated in a song and video competition where our club
placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.

February 2021

In February of 2021 the student council had a president appreciation day as a part of
their student council week and our president Akili Duncan came out on top receiving
the award of Most Valuable President and Most Outstanding president due to the
hardwork and dedication she put in to keep the club active in the online space.

April 2021

In April 2021 a few of our members entered the Rotaract Pics competition. This was
a competition in which the contestants were asked to submit a photograph taken by
them which represents the theme My Green Caribbean. We had three finalist Kyra
Lewis, Ty-era Hamil and Danielle Williams. We also spread awareness about the
importance of taking care of the environment using our social media platform in
celebration of Earth day.

May 2021

To wrap up the Interact year we hosted an award ceremony where we issued

certificates to all our members in an effort to show them how much we appreciated
their support throughout the 2020-2021 academic year. An election was also held.
