INTRODUCTION
VISSION / MISSION / VALUES
Vision
“Helping deprived Indian children realizing their full potential through
education .
Mission
“Reaching to maximum number of deprived children through Help
People .Ranchi and bringing about sustainable changes in their lives
through education”.
Values
Our core values are:
SPIRIT OF VOLUNTEERISM: A volunteer is an unpaid volunteer and
participates in the spirit of pure volunteerism. Our volunteer’s lives are
enriched by being of service to others.
NON-DISCRIMINATORY: It does not discriminate in its selection of
philanthropic project activity, on the basis of gender, race, color,
religion, age, disability, gender orientation, lifestyle etc.
SECULAR, NON-POLITICAL AND NON-RELIGIOUS: We support only
secular community initiatives, projects or people. This means that we
will not support initiatives or projects that are solely for the benefit of
one religious community barring others. We support only non-political
community initiatives, projects or people. This means that we will not
support a particular political party or ideology.
NO PERSONAL BENEFIT: We keep an ethical firewall in our operations.
Every project which supports is not and should not be dependent on
any personal benefit for that or any volunteer.
PROBLEMS IDENTIFICATION
In many ways, today’s system is better than the traditional one.
Technology is the biggest change and the greatest advantage at the
same time. Various devices, such as computers, projectors, tablets
and smartphones, make the process of learning simpler and more
fun. The Internet gives both students and teachers access to limitless
knowledge.
However, this is not the perfect educational system. It has
several problems, so we have to try to improve it.
Problem: Overcrowded Classrooms
In 2016, there were over 17,000 state secondary school children in the
UK being taught in classes of 36+ pupils.
Solution: Reduce the Number of Students in the Classroom
Only a smaller class can enable an active role for the student and
improve the level of individual attention they get from the teacher .
Problem: The Teachers Are Expected to Entertain
Today’s generations of students love technology, so the teachers started
using technology just to keep them engaged. That imposes a serious
issue: education is becoming an entertainment rather than a learning
process.
Solution: Set Some Limits
We don’t have to see education as opposed to entertainment. However,
we have to make the students aware of the purpose of technology and
games in the classroom. It’s all about learning.
Problem: Not All Teachers Can Meet the Standards of
the New Educational System
Can we really expect all teachers to use technology? Some of them are
near the end of their teaching careers and they have never used tablets
in the lecturing process before.
Solution: Provide Better Training for the Teachers
If we want all students to receive high-quality education based on the
standards of the system, we have to prepare the teachers first. They
need more training, preparation, and even tests that prove they can
teach today’s generations of students.
Problem: Not Having Enough Time for Volunteering
in University
The students are overwhelmed with projects and assignments. There is
absolutely no space for internships and volunteering in college.
Solution: Make Internships and Volunteering Part of Education
When students graduate, a volunteering activity can make a great
difference during the hiring process. In addition, these experiences help
them develop into complete persons. If the students start getting credits
for volunteering and internships, they will be willing to make the effort.
CAUSES OF THE PROBLEMS
Poverty
Poverty can be regarded as a big cause of a lack of education and for
educational inequality.
Children from poor families often do not have access to proper
education since it is simply too expensive for their families to send
them to school.
Moreover, these children also often have to work instead of attending
school since they have to contribute to the family income in order to
support their family members financially
Homelessness
If you grow up in a family with homeless parents, chances are that you
will not get proper education since your parents will not have sufficient
money to send you to school and they might not even care too much
since they often have other problems like drug addiction and you may
therefore be at great risk to be neglected.
Thus, growing up in a family with homeless parents may also contribute
to educational inequality.
Bad company
If you hang out with family members or friends who are doing drugs or
other illegal stuff, chances are that you get influenced by these people
and they may eventually drag you down in life.
You may also start to consume substances or skip school which may
translate into a lack of education in later stages.
Lack of learning materials
Especially in poor developing countries, children also often suffer from
a lack of learning materials.
If children do not have the appropriate books or other facilities to
learn, chances are that their level of education will suffer.
OBJECTIVES TO BE ACHIEVED
Education enables students to make a good living in the future. It makes
them independent and successful not just culturally but also financially.
Occupational competence should be a strong focus of education.
Knowledge:
Knowledge is as essential for intellectual development as nutrition is for
body development. It encourages lifestyle changes, self-realization, and
societal progress. Thus, knowledge is as much a source of strength as
comfort. It leads to effective interpersonal relationships and healthy life
adaptations. Thus, knowledge acquisition should be a significant goal of
education.
Total Development:
Education seeks to grow the overall personality of the learner. These
include physiological, intellectual, moral, social, and spiritual growth.
Character Development:
According to some educational systems, this is the ultimate goal of
education. It is believed that education comprises the nurturing of
particular human ideals. Education helps the formation of mindsets and
preferences that comprise a person's personality. Some renowned
personalities, such as Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda, and John
Dewey, regarded character development as the fundamental goal of
education.
Self-realization:
According to some professional educators, this is one of the most
important aims of education. Education should assist a person in
becoming what they need to become, depending on their specific
potentials.
VARIOUS STEPS TAKEN TO ACHIEVE THE OBJECTIVES
1. Mission, Vision & Objectives
The central feature of OBE software is modeled to improve quality
education. Thus, OBE prepares the mapping of the mission, vision, and
values set by the institute with the program educational objectives
(PEOs)
2. Program Educational Objectives (PEO)
In terms of student achievement, PEOs are assessed for a longer
duration. What the graduates are envisaged to achieve in their career
4-5 years after graduation. PEO attainment is based on stakeholder
inputs using an online survey questionnaire. This will reveal that
graduates are broadly satisfied with their achievement in all PEOs
3. Student learning outcomes (SLO)
A learning outcome is what a student can do as a result of a learning
experience. It describes the attributes of their ideal graduates based
on their visions, missions, institutional goals or outcomes. And using
these as bases for developing specific program outcomes. The three
broad types of learning outcomes are disciplinary knowledge and skills,
generic skills and, attitudes and values.
4. Program outcomes (PO)
Program outcomes are the sets of competencies (related knowledge,
skills, and attitudes) that all learners are expected to demonstrate.
These desired outcomes are mapped to the expected learning
outcomes in specific courses. The desired course and learning
outcomes are attained through assessment and evaluation tools.
5. Course outcomes (CO)
Course outcomes refer to the knowledge, values, and skills all learners
are expected to demonstrate at the end of a course. Learning outcomes
are mapped to course outcomes and program outcomes.
6. Syllabus, Unit & Lesson Plan Outcomes
Course outcomes lead to lesson outcomes. Create a syllabus, unit, and
lesson plan to link with the learning outcomes of each teaching activity.
This aids coherence and cohesion in student learning.
7. Teaching Methods
Technology-enabled performance demonstration of pedagogical
learning through video lectures, podcasts, and slide presentations
would innovate and enhance students’ learning experience.
Technology-aided teaching methods and assessments would enable
education institutions to accurately and perfectly map with the
targeted outcome. This enables students and faculty to work together
as partners toward achieving a visible and clear goal
8. Assessment & Evaluation Tools
Implementing OBE further translates to the quality and orientation of
the faculty members. The core mission of teaching is to build the
learning competencies. Online tests, assignments, quizzes and puzzles,
and evaluation of courses/faculty through a survey questionnaire for
the attainment of PEOs.
9. Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)
Quality in higher education comes with CQI. Online assessment and
evaluation process provide critical information to faculty and
administrators. They also give real-time reports on the effectiveness of
the program design, delivery, and objectives. CQI tools based on digital
feedback loops through course/faculty evaluations easily. They will
enable the institution to enhance the quality of education and the
process will continue year after year
10.Customizable Rubrics & Marking Schemes
Assessment of writing, oral communication, critical thinking, or
information literacy often requires rubrics. Automated rubrics are
standardized scoring guides that assist evaluators to make assessment
more transparent, easy, consistent, and objective. They even
determine the quality of student work in a consistent manner.
11. Student Success
There is a paradigm shift from traditional OBE to technology-based,
learner-centered result-oriented OBE. This is reflected in the key
purpose that technology enhances learning and performance abilities
of students before they leave the institution. Structuring colleges,
universities and higher education institutions to achieve and maximize
learning outcomes of students is the key to OBE principles.
EFECTIVENESS OF THE PROJECTS
CONCLUSION
From the above study we say that the Help People . Ranchi is doing a
great job towards the future of the children . We can also conclude
that the organization requires more awareness and services regarding
education in respect of the future of the children should be taken as a
major function so that the number of children continuing with the Help
People. Ranchi will be reduced . Survey should be done so that the trust
can understand the problems and get more number of volunteers for
their additional support.
STRATEGY TO EXPAND AND IMPROVE THE ORGANISATION
Providing Technical Support
Many NGOs and local organization has limited capacity to fundraise.
Donors are well positioned to support the NGOs and local
organization in fundraising with their funding expertise and large
capacity. Critiquing and reviewing applications and approaches and
providing feedbacks on reports and proposals to other donors can be
very valuable.
Always ask for Feedback
Since the working of the NGO and local organization must be done
without any obstacles, it must always ask for feedback and
suggestions on how to improve its sustainability. An NGO must
discuss about its current practices and take suggestion on what can
be done better to expand and improve the NGO organization
Link your NGO and local organization to other donors
Many donors are linked through peer groups or personal
connections. These networks can be used to widen the support
given to an NGO. An NGO can make the initial referral instead of
cold- calling the potential donor. Also NGOs can pitch to other
donors for showing interest in co- funding certain programs.
