1. Answer any FIVE (5) questions [5 x 2 = 10 ]
i) How does the Weber Ratio affect the brightness of an image?
ii) What are the drawbacks of global histogram equalization? Which technique is
used to overcome it?
iii) How does correlation differ from convolution? Explain with an example.
iv) What type of operations can be applied to accomplish edge detection in
images and why?
v) Perform shear (vertical) and shear (horizontal) transformation on the
following matrix

vi) Calculate the aspect ratio of an image of dimension 1280 X 120 pixels.
2. Answer any FOUR (4) questions [ 5 x 4 = 20]
i) How can you differentiate between intensity resolution and spatial
resolution? How do these parameters affect the quality of the image?
ii) Define order of a filter. How does the order of a filter play an important role
in noise removal? Apply specific filtering techniques to remove noise.
iii) How can a gradient operator be used for edge detection? Explain with an
example.
iv) Consider the following image segment and perform the following
transformation operations on the shaded pixel:-
1. Image negative
2. Gamma correction
3. Contrast stretching
