extra efficient
The e-SVTM’s newly-designed hydraulics, combined with a high-efficiency motor (IE2)
deliver maximum efficiency.

energy saving
Pumps are among the largest users of industrial energy. Do your part to reduce CO2
emissions and your impact on the environment - and improve your bottom line - by
taking advantage of the new e-SVTM’s lower energy requirement. Use a new e-SVTM pump
along with a variable speed drive such as ITT’s Hydrovar®, and save even more energy
and money.

easy to maintain
The e-SVTM’s new design allows removal of the mechanical seal without having to remove
the motor, reducing repair time by up to 50%.
A standard DIN mechanical seal, wearing components, service tools and standard IEC
motors enable faster and easier maintenance and servicing.

Common questions

The use of a jockey pump alongside the main fire pump provides several advantages in fire pump systems. It helps maintain the system's pressure, compensating for small leaks and ensuring the main fire pump is not unnecessarily activated. A jockey pump's presence ensures the main fire pump operates efficiently and prolongs its lifespan by reducing unnecessary wear. It is vital for maintaining steady pressure in the fire protection system, readying the system for high-demand scenarios without triggering the main pump .

LED indicators are essential in fire pump systems for real-time monitoring and diagnostics. They visually alert operators to conditions such as phase reversal, phase failure, common alarms, and pump operation states. LEDs provide instant feedback, enabling quick response to malfunctions or issues that require attention. This immediate visibility contributes significantly to operational safety by ensuring any anomalies can be swiftly identified and addressed, minimizing risks associated with system failures .

The Xylem A-C Series 8100 fire pump is designed with a dynamically balanced, enclosed double-suction impeller made of bronze, a cast iron casing with a suction and discharge gauge ports, and heavy-duty base mounts for stability. It uses grease-lubricated steel bearings and features a stuffing box design, ensuring efficient performance under exigent conditions. The use of materials like ASTM A48 Class 25A and ASTM B584 for different components adds to the pump's robustness and reliability in fire safety applications .

The fire pump components are constructed from durable materials such as ASTM A48 Class 35A cast iron for the casing assembly, ASTM B584-875 bronze for the impeller, and alloy steel SAE 1045 for the shaft. These materials are chosen for their strength and corrosion resistance, ensuring long operational life and adherence to safety standards such as NFPA-20, UL, and FM. They provide the necessary balance between structural integrity and the ability to withstand high-pressure conditions .

The inclusion of a pressure transducer in a jockey pump controller enhances its functionality by allowing precise control over the start and stop pressures. It provides solid-state accuracy in pressure readings, directly influencing the system to maintain the desired pressure levels more efficiently. This real-time adaptability is crucial for pressure adjustments in increments as fine as 1 PSI, ensuring the entire fire suppression system consistently operates at optimal levels .

Remote alarm panels play a critical role in maintaining fire pump safety by providing audible and visual alerts for various conditions, such as power failure and common alarms. These panels are microprocessor-controlled and allow for real-time monitoring and response to the pump system's operational status. Features like the lamp test button and the silence alarm button ensure the ongoing functionality of alarms without altering their configurations, ensuring that any operational anomalies are promptly reported even if not under constant supervision .

The fire pump control system uses a Cutler Hammer Electric Motor Driven Controller equipped with interlock and shutdown circuits managed by a digital display system. It includes features such as automatic or manual reset, LED functionality testing, and pressure sensor adjustments via a 4-20mA sensor with increments of 1 PSI. The system supports three standard languages and provides customizable future inputs/outputs, enhancing operational efficiency and safety by accommodating various alarm scenarios and user-selected settings .

The fire pump controller offers both manual and automatic system resets to ensure that the pump can be adjusted quickly to safe operating conditions. Automatic resets allow for uninterrupted operation when transient conditions normalize, reducing downtime. Manual resets provide a safeguard by requiring human intervention to verify and resolve persistent issues, ensuring safety through deliberate oversight. These provisions are important as they balance operational efficiency with safety concerns, enabling quick recovery and the ability to address any underlying issues .

Key construction elements that ensure the robustness and reliability of the fire pump include the use of ASTM A48 Class 35A cast iron for casing assembly, interconnected by dynamically balanced impellers, bronze ASTM B584 for important components like the impeller and sleeve, and grease-lubricated steel bearings. The solid construction allows it to withstand high pressures, minimize wear, and facilitate easier maintenance .

The Xylem A-C Series 8100 fire pump has a flow capacity of 1250 GPM and a head of 185 PSI. It is manufactured from materials such as cast iron, bronze, and steel, ensuring durability and performance. This series is UL-listed, FM-approved and meets NFPA-20 standards, supporting not less than 150% of rated capacity at a pressure not less than 65% of rated pressure. The pump's shut-off pressure does not exceed 120% of rated pressure, and it has a maximum working pressure of 225 PSIG, with a hydrostatic test pressure of up to 375 PSIG .
