4) Lisa made 57 cakes for the Christmas fayre. Her friend bought 23 from her. How many
were left?
5) The school bought 368 books to add to their library. They already had 405. How many are
there now?
6) Maria had £6.78 to take on holiday. She spent £2.59. How much was left?
7) Denise had some elastic that measured 249cm. Her friend cut some off to make a twang.
She cut off 136cm. How long was Denise's twang?
8) 532 people were at a concert. At the interval 167 people visited the bar for a drink. How
many people didn't buy a drink?
9) I have 59 sequins. I want to make a dress that needs 84 sequins sewn onto it. How many
more sequins do I need to buy?
