In today’s modern world where parents want their children to grow in all aspects and not only in

theoretical knowledge, they may wonder what is that one aspect that contributes the most to a
child’s overall growth and development?

The answer to that is ‘Creativity’ which means the ability to generate fresh and attractive ideas.
Now, many parents may be wondering what is the importance of children’s creativity and what
makes a child creative?

So, let’s have a look at what exactly is the importance of creativity in a child:
● Develops thinking and intellectual skills: Analytical skills are an important aspect of
development in a child and with a boost in the creativity of a child, he/she starts to
experiment with their ideas, thought processes, etc. This leads to the development of
their intellectual and analytical skills where they are able to look at problems in different
ways and solve them effectively.
● Improves communication and social skills: Effective communication and social skills are
considered an important aspect for children to improve throughout their development
process in order to enter the real world. Creative activities like acting, reading, singing,
expressing, etc. require children to process their thoughts and convert them into a world
to convey to other people. Also, many creative activities take place in a group that
makes the children interact with each other and develops their social interaction skills.
● Contributes to emotional development: Building a deep emotional intelligence in a child
is one of the main focuses of many parents as they consider this to be a prime factor that
will help them throughout the rest of their lives. Creative activities can promote emotional
development in a child as activities such as acting, dancing, singing, acting, etc. help the
child in expressing his/her emotions and feelings in a better way.
● Better concentration and focus: Having better concentration and focus is one of the most
important factors to succeed in life. However, building concentration and focus can be a
tough task for parents since a kid’s mind revolves from one activity to the other that
catches his/her interest. But when a child is engaged in creative activities like art,
singing, dancing, etc, they tend to enjoy it so much that they get engaged in it for long
hours which leads to better concentration and focus in the long run.

In all, creativity helps in the overall development of a child and inculcates many skills through a
fun process that even children enjoy and thus, involving a child in creative activities can be one
of the best investments of time and money that parents can make to speed up their
development.
