I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:
a. Use pattern recognition and mathematical
induction to write a formula for the nth term of
a sequence.
b. Use mathematical induction to prove the
formula for every positive integer n.
c. Use mathematical induction to prove
inequality for the indicated integer values of n.
A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of key
concepts of series and mathematical induction and the
Binomial Theorem.
B. Performance Standard The learner is able to keenly observe and investigate
patterns, and formulate appropriate mathematical
statements and prove them using mathematical
induction and/or Binomial Theorem.
C. Learning Competencies Illustrate the Principle of Mathematical
Induction. STEM_PC11SMI-Ih-4
Apply mathematical induction in proving
identities. STEM_PC11SMI-Ih-i-1

Use the pattern recognition and mathematical
induction to write a formula for the nth term of
a sequence.
Use mathematical induction to prove the
formula for every positive integer n.
Use mathematical induction to prove
inequality for the indicated integer values of n.
They can ask questions regarding the module
for them to be able to answer the questions in
it.
The learners will know how to:
✓Use the pattern recognition and
mathematical induction to write a formula for
the nth term of a sequence.
✓Use mathematical induction to prove the
formula for every positive integer n.
✓Use mathematical induction to prove
inequality for the indicated integer values of n
C. Engagement What’s more?
The learners will perform the activities in the
book. These include the following:
Exercise Set 5.4, page 281.
What can I do?
Performance-based activity
D. Assimilation What I have learned?
The learner will answer the questions focusing
on the topic. They are to synthesize the
information they learned.
o What is the importance of mathematical
induction?
o What are mathematical principles?
o How is mathematical induction used in real
life?
What can I do?
The learners will answer the Exercise Set 5.4,
page 282.
They will answer the problem in a step-by-step
process.
They will submit their outputs to their teacher.
The teacher will check their outputs.
V. REFLECTION They will write their personal insights
regarding the lesson. The format is as follows:
