GROUND RULES, GUIDELINES and MECHANICS for SPORTS
I. SPORTS EVENTS
The following sports are included
1.1 Men and Women Basketball
1.2 Men and Women Volleyball
1.3 Men and Women Table Tennis
1.4 Single, Double and Mixed Badminton
1.5 Men and Women Dart
1.6 Men and Women Athletics
1.7 Rapid and Regular Chess
II. MODE OF TOURNAMENT
SINGLE ELIMINATION (KNOCK-OUT) TOURNAMENT.
III. GENERAL GROUNDRULES
a. Specific Ground rules for each sporting event will be applied.
In the absence of ground rules, updated and existing
International Federation Rules will be followed.
b. Each player can play a maximum for two (2) events in sports.
c. There will be no definite schedule of games. Continuous
match shall be followed. Players must always be ready. Team
coaches will be given copies of game schedule
d. A team that fails to appear during their scheduled time of the
game and after a grace period of Fifteen (15) minutes will be
declared DEFAULT in favor of the opponent.
e. It is allowed to have a reserve player in every sports event
and when team becomes incomplete, it must employ
substitution through legal means, otherwise their game shall
be considered FORFEITED.
IV. ELIGIBILITY
a. The Sportsfest 2023 Tournament is open to all Students.
b. Only the players listed on the approved official entry form can
able to play in every tournament.
V. UNIFORM
a. Each team must be in their official team uniform during
every game, Jersey/Shirt & Short bearing number in their
Uniform.
b. Any player not in their complete/proper team uniform
shall not be allowed to play.
VI. PROTEST
a. Protest must be in written form, addressed to the
Committee at least one (1) hour after the termination of
the game under protest.
b. Any protesting party must present any evidence or proof
for their ground of protest. Decisions thereof shall be
made before the next scheduled game of the team(s)
concerned.
c. Protest on “Judgment Call” shall not be entertained. Only
questions on the “Application of Rules”
VII. CODE OF CONDUCT
a. Athletes/Coaches/Team Officials under the influence of
alcoholic drinks shall not be allowed to play.
b. Athletes who will be involved in FIGHTING and any
GRAVE UNSPORTSMANLIKE conduct shall be
DISQUALIFIED for further participation.
c. Athletes/Coaches/Team Officials uttering derogatory
words or profane language, pointing an accusing
finger/dirty finger, cursing the referees and other officials
during and immediately after the game shall be
sanctioned or subjected to disciplinary actions.
d. Athletes who have been thrown out or ejected from the
game by the referee/umpire or due to unsportsmanlike
behavior will merit a one (1) game suspension. He or she
will not be allowed to play in the succeeding game based
on the game schedule.
e. Athletes who will be found-out to be IN-ELIGIBLE shall
not be allowed and /or penalized by FORFEITING the
game(s) he participated.
f. Athletes, Coaches and all Officials are prohibited to
SMOKE in all playing area and its premises.
VIII. GROUND RULES PER SPORTS EVENT
1. Men and Women Basketball
1.1 There shall be eight (8) players for each delegation/team,
three (3) players for the men’s division and three (3) players
for women’s division. The 4th players shall act as substitute in
case of injury may happen to the player of the delegation.
Once the substitution happened the fourth player will
continue the remaining match and games for the team.
Official roster of players should be declared prior to the start
of the game.
1.2 There will be 4 quarters in one game. Each quarter will be
played for 10 minutes running time except for the last (4th)
quarter (Stop Time). The Coach / Team Leader can field in
any player in each quarter. However, we encourage allowing
all players to play.
2. Men and Women Volleyball
2.1 There shall be eight (8) players for each delegation/team,
three (3) players for the men’s division and three (3) players
for women’s division. The 4th players shall act as substitute in
case of injury may happen to the player of the delegation.
Once the substitution happened the fourth player will
continue the remaining match and games for the team.
Official roster of players should be declared prior to the start
of the game.
2.2 Games will be 3 sets race to 25 points (running score).
Deciding set (3rd Set) is up to 15 points only
3. Men and Women Table Tennis
3.1 There shall be six (6) players for each delegation/team, It will
be divided into two games, the single tournament which
consists of two (2) players, one (1) for man and (1) for
woman category and the double tournament which consist of
four (4) players. Official roster of players should be declared
prior to the start of the game.
3.2 There will be a ten (10) minute break after each game.
3.3 There will be 3 sets in one (1) game, race to 11. The events
will be:
3.1.1 Singles A&B (Men and Women)
3.1.2 Doubles A&B (Men and Women)
4. Single, Double and Mixed Badminton
4.1 There shall be eight (8) players for each delegation/team, It
will be divided into three games, the single tournament which
consists of two (2) players, one (1) for men and (1) for
women category, the double tournament which consist of
four (4) players two (2) for men and two (2) for women and
the mixed tournament which consists of two (2), one (1) man
and woman. Official roster of players should be declared
prior to the start of the game.
4.2 Each player can play a maximum of Two (2) events.
4.3 Race to 30 points (change court on the 15th point).
4.4 There will be a ten (10) minute break after each game.
4.5 The events will be:
4.5.1 Singles A&B (Men & Women)
4.5.2 Doubles A&B (Men & Women)
4.5.3 Mixed (Men & Women)
5. Men and Women Dart
5.1 TEAM COMPOSITION: There should be a maximum of SIX
(6) MEN and FOUR (4) WOMEN.
5.2 Drawing of lots will be done before the start of the
tournament.
5.3 Number of teams shall be divided into two (2) groups.
5.4 The 1st and 2nd singles matches will be played by men.
Mode of play is 501.
5.5 The 3rd singles match will be played by women. Mode of
play is 501.
5.6 The 4th and 5th Matches will be played by mixed doubles
(Male & Female). Mode of play is 701.
5.7 The 6th match in case of a deciding game: 4 men can play or
women mixed with men. Mode of play is 1001.
5.8 Points System:
5.7.1 Singles – 1 Point
5.7.2 Mixed Doubles – 1 Point
5.7.3 4 Man Team – 2 Points
6. Men and Women Athletics
6.1 There shall be six (6) players for each delegation/team, three
(3) players for the men’s category and three (3) players for
women’s category. Official roster of players should be
declared prior to the start of the game.
6.2 The first player that will finish the lap will be declared winner.
6.3 There will be 3 events:
6.3.1 100 meter dash
6.3.2 200 meter dash
6.3.3 400 meter dash
7. Rapid and Regular Chess
7.1 There shall be two (2) players for each delegation/team.
Official roster of players should be declared prior to the start
of the game.
7.2 Players are not allowed to eat in the playing area while the
game is in progress.
7.3 There will be a five (5) minute break after game
7.4 There will be 2 events:
7.4.1 Regular Chess,Time control shall be One (1) hour
plus thirty (30) seconds increment per move for each
player to finish the game using the digital clock.
7.4.2 Rapid Chess, Time control shall be Three (3)
minutes plus two (2) seconds increment per move for
each player to finish the game using the digital clock.
IX. EMERGENCIES
a. In case of emergencies, the teacher chair, student chair or
any tournament official shall not liable for any untoward
incident which may happen to an athlete in the course of
competition. If utmost prevention and care has been taken.
b. In case of injury happen to one player and he/she is not able
to play as advice by the assigned medical personnel in the
game. The third player in the official list may substitute
the injured player and continue the match and the remaining
games of the team.
c. In the case of the team without a fourth player as substitute
the opposing team shall declare as winner.
d. In case of an unfavorable weather and an event cannot be
safely competed, the coaches will be consulted prior to the
postponement or cancellation of the schedule by the
Technical Management.
X. ADDITIONS
Any case that arises during the entire tournament which is not covered
by this ground rules, the Teacher Chair decision upon consultation.
