Question 1
1A. 4.a.b OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH, SAFETY AND THE ENVIRONMENT
You got a job with a company that sell and service fire extinguishers as a business.
A contractor made a request for you to supply extinguishers for 5 different businesses.
1.) A stationary store.
2.) An electrical repair shop, where electrical equipment is repaired and there is constant
testing. Many times, the technicians would leave live electrical wires exposed.
3.) A food catering business outlet.
4.) A car paint shop which sells and mixes paint on spot.
5.) A metal craft store that uses a lot of heat to shape the metals. In this shop, there are a few
computers used to assist in manufacturing the products.
Fill out the table below, stating which type of extinguisher would be recommended for each
business, the most likely type/class of fire, insert an image of the fire extinguisher to be used.

Question 3
SECTION 1: FUNDAMENTALS OF TECHNICAL DRAWING
1B.3: EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, MATERIALS, LETTERING, LINE WORK, DIMENSIONS AND SCALES-
Functions of drawing equipment and materials
Identify 4 manual drawing instruments & describe its use.
Include a drawing or picture of each instrument selected.
Name of Drawing Description Picture /diagram
instrument
Pen/Pencil A writing utensil used fir
drawing, writing and sketching
T-square Used for crafting a horizontal
reference on the drafting board
Rulers This instrument is used for
geometry
Compass The compass is used for
rotational variations for circles
Question 4
SECTION 1B: FUNDAMENTALS OF TECHNICAL DRAWING
1B.5a: EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, MATERIALS, LETTERING, LINE WORK, DIMENSIONS AND SCALES –
The alphabet of lines.
Project on various types of lines.
Instruction:-
Draw sketches to illustrate the following types of lines.
1.) A hidden line
2.) A center line.
3.) Hatch lines in a sectional view
4.) An outline
5.) A broken line
6.) An outline
7.) Construction line
Line type Description Image
Hidden Line A hidden line is an edge or
corner that is not visible
according to the angle the shape
is viewed at
A center line A line that goes through the
center axis of a symmetric shape
Hatch lines in a sectional view Hatch lines are lines that are
used to indicate solid shapes
that are cut through
An outline The line by which a shape or
solid is defined or out bounded
A broken line A line which is broken up into
segments or sections
Construction line Also known as Xlines, this a line
which is temporary but used to
construct, position, sculpt and
design and then later removed
Sectional Plane Line A line used to indicate where
the cutting plane cuts the
material. They are thin lines and
the symbols are chosen
according to the material of the
object
Question 5
Section 1B: FUNDAMENTALS OF TECHNICAL DRAWING
Section1B.7 Equipment, Tools, Materials. Lettering, Line Work, Dimensions and scales-Lettering
and Dimensioning Dimensions (floor plan or Machine Part), aligned, linear, radius, leader.
In the above diagram,
AC = 120mm,CD = 90mm,diameter of circle F =36mm,centre of circle F is 36mm from CD and 30mm
from DE.
Curve at E has a radius of 20mm.
AB = BG= 25mm. Angle ABG is 45 degrees.
Draw to scale a Front Elevation and dimension the following: -
1 – CD
2 – AC
3 -angle ABG
4- The radius at E
5 – The diameter of the circle F

Question 12
Building Option
You have decided to go in the real estate/construction business. Your first project is to construct on
a plot of land,15 meters by 30 meters, a structure which would house a doctor’s office and a
pharmacy.
While both businesses are in the same structure, they are independent. If the doctor’s office is
secured (closed), business must still be able to operate in the pharmacy and the same situation must
exist with the doctor.
The structure is to be a single storey 300mm, above ground level.
A kitchenette and washroom facilities must be provided for both businesses.
You are to: -
- Research the Town and Country regulations for Trinidad and Tobago.
- Visit a pharmacist and a doctor to find out what is required in such a business. (Must show
some evidence that you did a visit or evidence of your research.)
Using an appropriate scale, do the working drawings to include.
(i) a site plan, which must include the car park layout
(ii) a foundation plan
(iii) a roof plan
(iv) a ground floor plan
(v) two elevations
(vi) a sectional front elevation
NOTE: All measurements must be in millimetres.
Produce some detailed drawings to include:
(i) A footing detail -Scale 1:10
(ii) A roof apex detail-Scale 1:10
(iii) A roof anchorage detail-Scale 1:10
(iv) A Door detail for the front-Scale 1:5
(v) A surface drain detail-Scale 1:10
