DEMO Math Jenifer

This document contains a lesson plan for a 4th grade mathematics class on perimeter. The lesson plan outlines the objectives to define perimeter, find perimeter, derive formulas, and solve problems accurately and quickly. It provides the content and performance standards as well as learning competencies. The topic is perimeter and materials include textbooks, charts, and activity cards. The methodology includes an introduction, presentation on perimeter of a school garden, discussion of the formula, and a game to practice skills. Students will then generalize the formula and apply it in group activities. The lesson concludes with an evaluation and assignment.

parallel sides.

1. Motivation

The teacher asks:

Who has a garden at home?
What can we find in our garden?
Do we need to eat fruits and vegetables? Why?

Integration in Science

2. Presentation

The teacher will present the picture of Gulayan sa Paaralan

One day, Mam Lora visited her garden in school ( Gulayan sa Paaralan).
She checked the vegetables and fruits planted on it. Upon checking the
vegetables, she found out that some strayed animals stepped on the
vegetables. She asked her principal, Mam Aimee V. Cambel about the
necessary actions to be made on it. She was adviced to put fence on the sides
of the garden. She hurriedly measured the sides of the garden and she had a
result of, 12 meters long and 10 meters wide. If she will get the total measure
of the fence, what would it be?

2 DEVELOPMENT
3. Discussion

- Where is Mam Lora visited?

- What did she find out on the vegetables in the garden?
- What adviced did her principal give to avoid the strayed animals?

( The teacher illustrate the garden)

- What is the size of the sides of the garden?
- If we are going to find the total measure of the sides of the garden,
what operation are we going to use?

( The teacher disusses perimeter and the formula to be used on it)

( The teacher will give another examples)

4. Fixing Skills

- The teacher prepares a game called ” Peel the Cabbage”.

- The teacher plays a music, as the music playsthe improvised cabbage
will move around. As the music stops, the one who holds the cabbage will peel
it. On the peeled part of the cabbage there is a mathematical equation to be
solved by the learners

4 ASSIMILATION
5 Generalization
* What is perimeter? How do we solved perimeter ?

* What is the formula to find perimeter?

6 Application

- The teacher divides the classes into three groups for the activity
- The teacher sets some standards to be followed while having group
activity
- The teacher gives envelopes to the learners containing the activity
cards and sheets inside
Group I

Find the perimeter of a triangle with sides measuring 10cm,14 cm, and 15 cm.

Group II

A rectangle has a length of 12 m, and with of 4 m. Solve for its perimeter.

Group III
