Research Methodology for TVL Students

The document describes the methodology used for a study on the physical facilities and students' attitudes in technical-vocational livelihood programs. It involved surveying 70 students across 3 schools using a 20-item questionnaire to understand satisfaction levels. Statistical analysis included frequency, percentage, weighted mean, and ranking to interpret the data and determine if physical facilities impacted attitudes. The research design, instruments, participants, and data collection were validated by experts to ensure accurate conclusions.

Chapter III

METHODOLOGY

This chapter reveals the methods of research to be employed by the researcher in

conducting the study which includes the Research Design, Research Locale, Research

Instrument, Respondents of the Study, Data Gathering Procedure, Statistical Treatment

of Data, and the Treatment.

The Respondents of the Study

The respondent of the study is composed of students whom currently Senior High

School taking Technical Vocational and Livelihood Strand in the Buenaventura Alandy

National High School, Dapdap Integrated High School and West Palale National High

School. The student’s taking course was designed to help them build abilities that will

be valuable in their future careers and technological projects. It offers a curriculum

comprised of Core Courses and specific hands-on courses that fulfills competency-

based evaluation. Choosing the suit respondents is one of the vital processes to keep this

study successful. All of these participants were selected through random sampling. This

sampling method is conducted where each member of a population has a capability to

become part of the sample. The chosen respondents are containing of seventy (70)

divided in three (3) selected schools, per selected schools was randomly choosing who

willingly part of respondents under TVL track in Senior High School. The selected

schools we choose they are suitable and applicable to the study.

Research Locale

The study was conducted in Buenaventura Alandy High School, Dapdap

Integrated School and West Palale National High School, this school comprises Senior

High School which offering one of the strands Technical Vocational Livelihood (TVL).

Buenaventura Alandy National High School is located at Barangay Ibabang Bukal

Tayabas City, 4327 Quezon Province, while Dapdap Integrated School located at

Barangay Dapdap Tayabas City, Lucban- Tayabas Road, 4327 Quezon Province, and

West Palale National High School located at Kanlurang Palale Tayabas City, 4327

Quezon Province.

Research Design

The sample size for this study is made up of two sections under the strand of

(TVL) students while stratified random samplings. According to S. McCombes (2022)

A research design is a plan for implementing empirical data to address a research issue.

Making judgments regarding the general objectives and strategy, the processes, the data

gathering techniques, and the data analysis techniques are all part of creating a study

design. A well-planned research design helps guarantee that methodologies are

appropriate for the research's objectives and that the type of analysis for data is.

Research instrument

The research instrument was used as the main data gathering was a survey

questionnaire titled “Home Economics’ Physical Facilities and Students Attitude”. This

questionnaire comprises 20 items was design to obtain information. The instrument was

divided into two section I and II. The section I was structured in scale ranging where in
the (1) is very satisfied, (2) satisfied, (3) dissatisfied (4) very dissatisfied on the

availability of physical facilities. And section II was structure of answering in Yes or

No. This legend will help the researchers to analysis the result of conducting date-

gathering through survey questionnaire. The ability of an instrument to allow the

researcher to draw meaningful and acceptable conclusions about the sample population

from the data it collects is referred to as its validity. The researcher double-checked that

the items in the data collecting instrument related to the conceptual framework,

objectives, and study title. Each meaningful and admissible assumption about the

sample population from the data it acquires is referred to as its validity. Any, study must

incorporate variables and verified constructs. The researcher sought expert consultation

from the research adviser, chairman, subject teacher and critic validator to confirm the

accuracy of the information. To promote construct validity, the language used in the

tools was simple and straightforward to avoid misconceptions among respondents. It is

the degree to which results obtained from the analysis of the data actually represent the

phenomena under study. Validity refers to quality of data gathering instrument or

procedures that enable the instrument to measure what it is supposed to measure. The

research adviser assessed the researcher's appearance and content authenticity, and she

examined, edited, and authorized the prepared text before it was delivered to the

respondents.

Data Gathering Procedure

After establishing the validity on how gather-data, formulating questions

appropriate for the study and all doing necessary modification to the chosen respondent.
Seventy (70) copies of questionnaires will be distributed. The researcher collected the

data for this study by utilizing a survey questionnaire. The researcher obtained a letter of

recommendation from the adviser, which identified and suggested that the researcher

was doing study in order to obtain maximum cooperation from the chosen schools. The

instrument was administered using the fast delivery and retrieval approach. During the

long-break period, the questionnaire was given to the participants with the aid of the

instructors in each of the schools. This gave the teachers enough time to complete the

surveys. The activity had a 99% return rate; 70 correctly completed surveys were

collected from the schools and analyzed.

Statistical Treatment of the Data

To analyze and interpret the data, the researcher employed the following statistical

procedure:

1. Frequency, percentage and ranking will help the researcher to easily tally the data that

they gathered. This percentage and ranking will a big help in the researchers to analysis

the data.

2. Frequency, weighted mean and ranking. Weighted Mean. This tool was used to provide

answer to the questions.

The formula is:

xf + xf + xf
WM=
N

Where:

WM = weighted mean
X = number of respondents

F= weight given to each respondent

N = number of cases

Using the data gathered, data analysis plan would encompass a number of

procedures leading to the findings or the result of the study about the "Home Economics

Physical Facilities” the procedures to be observed are as follow:

1. Summarizing the numerical data. This would be done through a tally that will be

based on the certain answer of the respondent in the survey questionnaires using

frequency and percentage.

2. Mathematical/Statistical Interpretation of the summarized data using the weighted

mean and ranking.

3. Verbal Interpretation of the produced outcome will be determining the hypothesis

of our topic. Like a scale type questionnaire was used by the researchers it used a 4-

points, in which point corresponding.

Legend Scale Interpretation

Point Scale Verbal

Interpretation

4 4.01 – 5.00 Very Satisfied

3 3.01 – 4.00 Satisfied

2 2.01 – 3.00 Dissatisfied

1 1.00 -2.00 Very Dissatisfied
