Introduction
In social and professional networks, one encounters a variety of strategies. In my work and as an
Accountant, for example, I encountered emergent and intentional strategies. Individuals and
businesses employ different strategies in life, which vary based on a variety of variables.
Deliberate strategies are a top-down process, whereas emergent strategies are a bottom-up
process, according to Rothaermel (2018). The majority of the time, management has control over
intentional strategies but lacks such control over emergent strategies, according to Mintzberg and
Waters (1985).
Emergent and intentional personal life strategies
I had always wanted to further my education but had been hesitant due to a lack of financial
stability. However, one day, I received an invitation to attend a program at NIPA where different
universities came to offer what they had for students. Lack enough, UNICAF was one of those
universities. I registered my details with them even though I didn’t embark on the journey of
studies there and then. As time went by that was in 2022 December I got the scholarship. I view
strategy as coordinated plans of action to deal with a constantly changing environment in order
to achieve set goals. "Strategy is the long-term direction and scope of an organization that
achieves advantage for the organization through its configuration of resources within a changing
environment to meet the needs of markets and to fulfill stakeholder expectations," write Johnson
et al., (2003). Strategy is a process, not an end result. To get the most out of life, one needs a
strategy, which may include time management in activities, breaking down goals and targets into
action plans, discontinuing non-productive activities, making a wise decision rather than simply
working hard, and so on.
Despite having a large number of strategies planned out (deliberate), there are cases where plans
emerge as a result of deviations from previous plans (emergent). One way I've used strategies in
my personal life is in principle and moral evaluation and bolstering. I value dedication, kindness,
empathy, and self-sacrifice highly. I routinely evaluate and bolster myself in situations where I
would have reacted differently if it had been the other way around. I practice time management
in all of my activities and convert the time spent waiting, transporting, or using the restroom into
useful time spent on self-developmental activities such as reading or listening to business
podcasts. However, there are times when I allow emergent strategies to take the place of
deliberate strategies. A typical example would be if I miss my diet meal plan or routine workout
and just go with the flow, or if I skip meals due to being too busy and convert that time to
intermittent fasting.
In a constantly changing environment, an organization should be able to transform long-term
scope and guidelines into benefits, as stated by Johnson et al., (2003).
