Lifting I Beam Design

This document analyzes the design of a lifting beam. It provides dimensions and material properties of the beam and pad eyes. Bending stress, buckling, shear stress, and direct stress calculations are shown to verify the design meets criteria. The analysis considers two cases of minimum sling angles and shows the stresses are below allowable values. Therefore, the lifting beam design is acceptable.

Allowable Shear Stress (0.4*Fy) = 94 N/mm3

Total capacity of Beam = 45 Ton

Acting force on slings (F/(2*cos45)) Fr = 31.83 Ton

Design Calculations of beam

III Bending Stress analysis - Case i

Minimum Sling angle ϴ = 45 deg

Maximum Bending Moment on beam (M=Fr * Cos45*L2) = 56726325 Nmm
Actual Bending Stress σa (σa=BM/Z) = 35.48 N/mm2
Allowable Bending Stress = 141 N/mm2

So, Actual Bending stress ˂ Allowable Bending stress

Therefore, OK

IV Critical Buckling Check

2
Eulers critical force F = ∏ *E*I
