Task 2: Analyze the pie charts below. Answer the following questions.
The charts give information about world forest in five different regions.
1. What information does each pie chart provide?
Answer to question 1: The percentage of world forest in 5 different regions and the percentage of timber in
each region
2. Is there any time period? What verb tenses are required?
Answer to question 2: There is time period. I think past present is the required verb tense.
3. What are some striking features in each pie chart?
Answer to question 3: In the graph of the percentage of world forest in 5 different regions, Africa has the
largest percentage of forests at 27%, followed by North America at 25%, followed by Europe at 18% and
16% and 14 % in South America and Asia respectively.
In the chart of the percentage of timber in each region, North America has the highest percentage at
30%, followed by South America at 23%, with Europe accounting for 20%, Asia accounting for 18%, and
Africa accounting for half of Asia.
4. Is it possible to compare and contrast the two charts? Why (not)?
Answer to question 4: No, it isn’t. Because both charts are not on the same topic.
5. How many ways can you organize the information from the charts?
Answer to question 5: I think there are 2 ways to sort the information from the charts. The first way will state
each information in each table and then start the comparison. The second way is to combine both
information and compare.
