BOOK REVIEW
Title of the book: Murder at the Vicarage
Name of the Author: Agatha Christie
Published by: DELL PUBLISHING CO.,INC.
Genre: Fiction/Crime Novel/Mystery Thriller
“Murder at the Vicarage” which was done by Agatha Christie, your novel is exhilarating
while reading throughout the chapters of the book and mystifying all at the same time. You’re
really an undisputed queen of mystery, every chapter takes me to different circumstances. for
instance, the story goes in the quaint village of St. Mary Mead, this meticulously crafted
whodunit showcases your expertise in creating intricate plotting, well detailed characters with
clandestine doings, and unforeseen twists as the pages slide. The content is perfectly written and
it matches what I expected right before reading this book, from contradictory characters with its
special attitudes that keep me guessing until the very end who is the actual antagonist among all
characters. Honestly speaking, your book is marvelous, it makes me feel that I'm one of those
characters moving and engaging solving the labyrinthine mystery puzzle. Also, it makes me
confused and feel intense what will happen to the next chapter of the book, that makes me want
to read more and more moreover, every page slowly answered my question why such things
occurred which makes me loved the book the most. The flow of the story never left me behind
because how you write is chronological and detailed. Furthermore, I love how Miss Marple plays
her role and is perfectly well-thought character who will turn the table to someone with has dark
secrets dwelling inside themselves. There's so much unexpected happenings that made me
shocked of what’s characters driving force of doing certain things. As the flow goes by, the plot
also getting intense and it introduce myself to every character presented in the book.
However, I saw some negative aspects in the book. its complicatedness in scenarios,
sometimes when I read some pages, some scenes are not so smooth in transitioning something to
another, for instance someone confessed he/she committed the murder then right after it transport
into another character who did the same thing without actually laid out reason and detailed
context, it’s confusing and it lost the thrill of the flow of story. Additionally, your book also has
some sensitive topics which includes illicit affair, using gun, etc. that made myself skipped and I
found myself being curious then getting lost with some situations happened and it’s difficult to
comprehend before continuing reading.
Some suggestions to the book to make it better is to laid out some detail scene that would
explain the whole context before transitioning into another thing, so that its flow of the story be
smooth and easy to comprehend. Also, it would be easily to follow what’s the next situations be
possible will happen. Secondly, by mentioning some heavy topics should not be used too much
and repeatedly, because of this I skipped few scenes because it’s being discussed to the book
which sometimes,, I can’t handle reading it and losing my excitement while reading. Also, the
Author should focus on characters point of view while talking with someone, it’s not specified
who’s the character together with, it should be written instead of there will be instant reply with
someone or character. Lastly, Miss Agatha Christie, you should avoid complexity on the setting
of the book and introduce the point of view of every character, explaining their side too so I can
form theories and attempting to solve the mystery puzzle before the final reveal.
This book definitely held my interest. It perfectly encapsulates my version of “mystery
novel” it may be not smooth in transition and has some few heavy themes, but it’s easy to read.
