May 19
Customer Services Office
WorldTravel Limited
25 Cramden Road
London
To Whom It May Concern:
I spent most of the last two days calling your customer service lines in an effort to
resolve this situation (see my customer reference number, A802234-202), but I have
gotten nowhere.
So, I'm writing in the hopes that this letter will get into the hands of a more effective
person. I'm really hoping you can help me.
On Monday, May 16th, I was in the airport checking my baggage for a flight to
Amsterdam, and the young man who was helping me - James Strathcona was his
name - tore the handle off my suitcase when he was lifting it onto the conveyor belt. I
have since inquired as to how much it would cost to fix and was told it would be at
least US$45.00. I have enclosed a photocopy of the quote from the repairman.
On principle, I really feel these repairs ought to be paid by WorldTravel, as the
damage was done while one of your people was handling my luggage. However, I am
being given the run-around by your customer service staff whenever I call. One young
man was even so bold as to suggest that the suitcase was probably worn out and ready
to break anyway. I assure you that this is not true: I only recently bought the set, and
the only reason it was broken was that it was handled with excessive force.
In all other dealings I've had with your company, I have had very positive experiences
and I have no wish to fly with another airline.
I look forward to hearing from you soon, and I very much appreciate your help.
Yours faithfully,
Edith Smallwood

62
What is the purpose of the letter?
A. To report a lost suitcase
B. To claim repair expenses
C. To complain about a flight
D. To request a copy of a quote

63
What was the Customer Service department's response to Ms. Smallwood's claim?
A. They will reimburse her for the repairs.
B. They think she probably broke the handle herself.
C. They didn't think they are responsible for that.
D. They said Mr. Strathcona should pay the cost.

64
Why did Ms. Smallwood go to see a repairman?
A. To buy a suitcase
B. To buy a suitcase
C. To find out about repair costs
D. To pay an outstanding bill

Dear Ms. McCarthy,
Thank you for your recent inquiry about PowerGen Electricity. I apologize for not
replying sooner. However, we have been having some trouble with our customer
address database. This problem has now been resolved and I am pleased to answer
your questions.
In your letter, you asked for advice on how to cut your electricity bill. We are aware
that our customers want to find the most efficient, yet economical ways to use
electricity in their homes. You might be surprised to learn that cutting down on
electric costs is easy to do. I am enclosing a chart of the average enegry costs of most
major home appliances. All you need to do is look at the chart, work out how many
hours you use an item in an average week, then multiply that number by cost per
hour. If you do this for each item on the list, you can calculate your monthly charge.
e.g. If you use your washing machine every day for one hour, you will need 17 cents
per week. To reduce costs, wait till you have enough clothes for a full load. You could
cut as much as 5 cents. This may not sound like much, but imagine reducing the time
for every appliance. The total savings will add up. I hope this helps you.
Sincerely,
Aian Bredhurst

Subject: Guitar lessons
Dear Sandra,
I am interested in learning to play the guitar. I already own a guitar and took lessons
for six months, about three years ago. Unfortunately, I had an accident and broke my
arm. I could not use it for a very long time, but now I am better and want to start the
guitar again. I would like to study with you twice a week. I am free every morning
except Thursday, and on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons. I work in the
evenings.
I look forward to hearing from you.

September 27
Workshop 1: 1:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M.
Workshop 2: 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.
Many businesses use 3-D printers to create small customized products to sell on the
Internet. 3-D printing also has applications for dentistry, automotive design,
architecture, and more. Imagine what you could do! The Warner City Library is now
offering you the chance to learn about this amazing technology!
Our $30 workshop includes:
● A free demonstration of the 3-D printers
● A short video on innovations in 3-D technology
● A group discussion on the potential applications and uses of 3-D printing
technology led by Warner City Library director Ryan Jefferson
● Hands-on practice, guided by our technical expert
Each participant will get to choose among five keychain designs to print and take
home.
Due to space restrictions, each workshop will be limited to 12 people. To register,
visit the library's front desk or go to www.warnerlibrary.com/3-DPrinter. For

Subject: 3-D Printer Workshops
Dear Ms. Andrews,
I am the president of the Warner Art Community and a sculptor by profession. I
recently read your flyer about the 3-D printer workshops. Our group is interested in
taking advantage of this opportunity. However, we'd like the focus to be on art rather
than general 3-D printing. So, we hope that we can develop a custom workshop.
Our members have some specific interests surrounding how we can use 3-D printing
in art. We would like to follow the curriculum you offer but would prefer to discuss
more specific applications for our work on our own. I can lead those discussions. We
may also want to explore making items of our own design in addition to the items you
offer. Could we meet to discuss this further? Naturally, our group will pay any
additional fees.
Please let me know when you might be available.
Sincerely,
Sam Jackson

Subject: Defective Printer
Dear Mrs. Willow,
My company, Pip Imaging, purchased an Easy Jet 1435 printer from your company
four weeks ago. Three weeks ago, an employee reported that the printer turned off
every time she tried to print on both sides. A week after the problem was reported, a
repairman came to the office to fix the problem. After spending an entire day taking
apart the machine, he determined that the printer was missing an important screw. It is
critical that we have a functioning printer in order to provide our customers with
quality photocopies. Therefore, it is important that we fix this problem as soon as
possible. We will be closing temporarily in two weeks from June 23rd to July 2nd,
while we change locations, and we would like to resolve this problem before then.
Sincerely,
Howard Hilton
Technical Director

Repair Department. The address for this department is provided in the Owner's
Instruction Manual that came with the printer. We will have a specialist take a look at
the machine immediately. You should have a working printer within three to four
