At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to:
a. identifies the characteristics and groups of vertebrates and invertebrates.
b. appreciates the importance of vertebrates and invertebrates through peer sharing on caring
and protecting animals.
c. creates a list of vertebrates and invertebrates that are commonly seen in the community.

Show an animal and ask the students if they’ve known what PowerPoint Presentation

Show an image of vertebrates and invertebrates. Ask the PowerPoint Presentation
students what the differences of them. LCD Projector

Working in groups, divide the class in 2 groups and each Chart
group will be given a chart of vertebrates and invertebrates.
Directions: The group 1 will encircle the vertebrates and the
group 2 will encircle the invertebrates.
Questions:
What are the characteristics of vertebrates and
invertebrates’ animals?
How many groups are there in vertebrates?
In invertebrates how many groups are there?
How could you identify the vertebrates and invertebrates’
animals?
How could you protect and take care of the animals in our
environment?

Vertebrates are an animal of a large group
distinguished by the possession of a backbone or
spinal column.

Invertebrates
Invertebrates are the animals that are lacking or
without a backbone or spinal column.
