ABSTRACT
Today, seeing teenage couples engaging to romantic relationships is not a new
thing. Thus, it is very important for a teenager/student to be educated with regards to this
matter. This research discusses about the effects on students having a romantic
relationship while studying. It will figure out the positive and negative outcomes of
having romantic relationship on different aspects on the lives of the respondents while
they are still studying. Phenomenological study research design is utilized in this study
anchored to Collaizzi’s phenomenological method of analyzing. The source of this study
were ten (10) high school students of San Ricardo National High School, San Ricardo,
Southern Leyte who are engaged in a romantic relationship. Outcomes were gained
through face-to-face interview. The results of the study reveals that all respondents think
that their engagement to romantic relationships while still studying will benefit their
studies. It will add inspirations, motivations, and encouragements to do better at school.
In conclusion, students who engage romantic relationships while still studying will
experience more negative reactions from parents. Finally, romantic partner can be an
instrument to better their lives and be fruitful in the future. This research recommends to
students to be rational in making decisions in life because it can affect their future.
