I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
A. Identify nouns in a sentence;
B. Form the plural form of regular nouns; and
C. Use plural form of regular nouns in the sentence.

A. Preparation
Greet the students and ask them to listen and sit properly.
B. Motivation
Show examples of singular and plural pictures.
Ask the students what the pictures are.

The next step is to show them multiple of the subjects/objects in the previous
pictures.

C. Lesson Proper (Use a short story with nouns: plural and singular)
The Hopper Family
There was once a family of bunnies/bunny. They were called the Hopper
family. The Hopper family lived on White Tail Lane. Papa Bunny worked in the city.
Mama Bunny worked in the town's candy shop. Sister and Brother Bunny were
student/students at the elementary school. Sister and Brother Bunny were in the same
2nd grade class at school. After school, Sister and Brother Bunny like to play at the
park. The park is right next to their house. When they go home, Mama Bunny will
have a cherry pie made for dessert.
D. Analysis. (Provide questions that elicit nouns that are plural or singular)

mind when you hear the word singular?

5. What is the common way to form the plural of a noun?
Nouns are words used to name a person, place, thing, or idea. When a noun
names/refers to one person, place, or thing, it is called singular noun. The plural noun
names/refers to more than one person, place, thing, or idea.
Rules to follow in forming plural form of regular nouns:
Rule 1: Add an –s to singular nouns that ends with consonant.
Examples: park - parks ant - ants bag - bags
Rule 2: Add –ies to nouns ending with y.
Examples: bunny – bunnies bully – bullies pony – ponies
But if it preceded by vowel then only add –s.
Examples: monkey - monkeys day - days boy - boys
Rule 3: Add –es to nouns ending in ch, sh, s, and x.
Examples: coach - coaches sash - sashes tax - taxes boss – bosses
E. Enrichment Activity
Read the story below and convert the underlined singular noun into plural form.
Out in the valley, I saw a bee sitting on a daisy. I also saw a monkey
eat a cherry. I saw a deer chew on a leaf. A rabbit nibbled on a flower and
then hopped away.
F. Generalization
1. What are nouns? How do we express the singular and plural form of nouns?
● Nouns are words used to name a person, place, thing, or idea.
● Most singular nouns need an -s at the end to become plural. There are rules to
follow in order to convert singular nouns into plural.
