Generating Ideas through
1 Prewriting Activities
Writing is one of the macro skills that you need to
master. As a new and budding writer, you have to
understand how writing takes place.
Prewriting is the first stage of the writing process.
Before you can actually write good sentences, you must
understand words and ideas presented in pictures,
diagrams, and story.
You can also write sentences by completing the
needed information.

We need to be creative by thinking of names, colors
or things related to the ideas presented in pictures,
diagrams and stories.

Describing is one of the steps in prewriting. Now we
can write sentences based on our description.

Before we write good sentences, we need to think of
words that best describe it. We can also use diagrams to
organize our ideas before we write.
In the stories that we read or hear, we can also get
ideas that we can use in writing. Read the story below.

Nanay Marita. Carlo really wants to have a
bicycle. Tomorrow is his birthday.
Her mother has no money to buy a bike.
Nanay Marita worked all day to earn the
money to buy a bike.

bike. Next morning, he has a nice
bike.
