HVAC Systems Overview

The document discusses different types of HVAC systems including direct-expansion (DX) systems, chilled water systems, and their components. DX systems can be package, split, VRF, or chilled water based. Package DX systems include window, rooftop, and central air conditioners. Split DX systems have separate indoor and outdoor units and include mini-split, multi-split, and central air conditioners. Chilled water systems use a water chiller and cooling tower with air handlers or fan coils.

 The Variable Refrigerant Flow System has the ability to control the
amount of refrigerant flowing through the system.
 Simply, each FCU/AHU unit receives only the required amount of
refrigerant in order to meet the cooling load of the conditioned space.
 The Inverter Unit will Gradually Increases or Decreases its Capacity
based on the load by increasing or decreasing the rotation speed of the
motor.

2) Chilled water systems
HVAC systems have chilled water flowing through the tubes of the cooling coil. These
systems are referred to as chilled water systems.

In a chilled-water system, the chilled-water loop transports heat energy between the airside loop and the refrigeration loop.
It is comprised primarily of a cooling coil, a circulating pump, an evaporator, a control valve, and interconnecting piping.
