“Delegation Process”
The process by which managers assign a portion of their total workload to other
employees or subordinates.

Steps in Delegation Process;

The delegation process involves some steps that must be gone through by the Manager.
These Steps include:
 Assigning responsibility.
 Granting authority.
 Creating accountability.
The above steps in the delegation process are explained in the coming sections:

Assigning Responsibility;
 At the very beginning the Manager should know which tasks to be delegated.
 Identify the right person for that job.
 Briefly discuss the task’s significance, starting date and deadline.
 Be sure that the person is willing to accomplish the task.
 Manager should see that the person he/she is assigning is reliable and interested in
extra responsibilities.
 Motivate the worker that will boost the performance.

Granting Authority;
 The worker to whom the task is delegated should be given a little authority over the task
so that he/she could perform better.
 The task must be given to a group so that all the authority would not be transferred to
only one person.
 The person could be allowed to have the authority of making some changes in the given
project if needed.
 Full authority must not be given to the person, He should only be working under your
supervision.
 Granting authority does not mean that you should leave the worker alone but it means
that you should guide them and be there if they face any issue.

Creating accountability;
 After the job is assigned and partial authority is given to the right person than the
accountability step starts.
 Manager should closely supervise the task.
 Communication should be maintained so that in case of any problem the worker could
contact.
 Ask for progress reports.
 Give your feedback.
 Do not let them think that you have forgotten after assigning them the task.
 This check and balance will improve the quality as well as the amount of work done in a
span of time.

The End.
