I. DESIRED OBJECTIVES
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
- Identify the situation for the conversation between Ben and Lan ( setting,
participants, topics)
- Identify and pronounce exactly the common words and phrases related to name of
classes and places.
- Use “ I’m in……../I live in…..” to introduce and responds the greetings.

1. Warm up: Greeting and play a game (Observation)
- T greets the students. Then get the class to play game “ who is quicker ? ”
- Ss work in groups of four
- T gives the comments to the group.

2. Discover to build up the new knowledge/structure
Activity1: Look, listen and repeat (Identify the situations for a conversation)

Discover the picture:
Who are the pupils? ( Ben and Lan)
Where are they? ( at school)
What are they talking about ? ( talk about the greeting , self- introduce and responds
the greetings)
-T plays the recording and Ss listen and repeat once or twice.
- Have Ss repeat in chorus or in pairs if necessary.
- T asks Ss to role play the conversation in groups.
- Call some groups present in front of the class.

3. Practice
Activity 1: Point and say ( Identify the words, phrases and structure)

- T uses pictures to run through the vocabulary: Can you tell me about yourself, Lan?
and the answer Well, I’m in Class 5C. I live in the countryside
- T elicits to give model sentences
- T points to the first picture and model the task with one student, using the
expressions in the bubbles and the word under the picture.

- Ss say the phrases chorally and individually. Repeat the same pricedure with the rest
of the pictures.
- Ss practice in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the pictures.
- Some pairs do role - play the dialogue in front of the class. T monitors the activity
and offers help, if necessary.
- T gives assessment: Pass the ball
4. Application
Activity 1: Let’s talk. (speaking practice )(Observation, questions & answers)
- Work in pairs , ask and answer questions about the greeting, self- ntroduce and
responds the greetings.
- Set a time limit for the class to practice.
- Select some pairs to act out the exchanges.

- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen. Play it again for them to
do the task. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.
Step 3: Share ideas
- Get pupils to swap and compare their answers before checking as a class.

Activity 2. Read and complete.
Aims of this activity: Read the sentences and fill the gaps with I’m, Hello.
Step 1: Discover the sentences.
- Tell the class that they are going to read 4 sentences and fill the gaps with I’m
and Hello.
- Give them a few seconds to read the text and the words in the box. Remind them to
focus on the context to select the appropriate words.

3. Practice
Activity 1. Let’s sing
- Ask Ss to read the lyrics in silent.
- T reads, Ss listen.

+ 2nd: stop each sentence in the song and asks sing along.

- Divide class into 2 groups and song.

1. Warm up: Greeting and play a game (Observation)
- T greets the students. Then get the class to play game “ Bingo ”
- Prepare pictures of sports, colours, animals and food.
- Stick all the pictures on the board.
- Have pupils say the names of the pictures. Check pupils’ pronunciation.
- Give each pupil a bingo grid with nine spaces.
- Explain that when you call out a word, pupils should search for that word on their
bingo card. If they have the word, they should cross it out. The first player to get three
words in a row, either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally, will shout out Bingo and
win the game.
- Have pupils play the game.
2. Discover and genelize the knowledge/structure
Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat
Step 1: Ss look at Pictures a and b and identify the characters in the pictures (see
Input).

Step 2: Play the recording for them to listen. Play the recording again, sentence by
sentence, for pupils to listen and repeat.
Step 3: Invite a few pairs to the front of the classroom to listen to and repeat the
sentences in the recording.
Step 4: Draw their attention to the question What’s your favourite sport? and the
answer It’s basketball. Tell pupils that they are used to asking and answering questions
about someone’s
Activity 2. Listen, point and say
Step 1: Ss look at the pictures and elicit the names of the things in the pictures.
Step 2: Have pupils point at Picture a and b, listen to the recording, and repeat the
words (sport - table tennis……..).
Step 3: Point at the bubbles and have pupils listen and repeat after the recording
(What’s your favourite sport? - It’s table tennis.).
Step 4: Ss work in pairs and practise asking and answering the question What’s your
favourite ___? - It’s ____. using speech bubbles and Pictures a, b, c and d.
Step 5: Invite a few pairs to point at the pictures and say the questions & answers in
front of the class.
3. Practice
Activity 1. Let’s talk
Step 1: Ask questions to help pupils identify favourite things of the characters (see
Input).
Step 2: Elicit the missing words in the speech bubbles and write them on the board.
Get pupils to say the completed sentences.
Step 3: Ss look at the bubbles to understand how the sentence pattern is used. Have
pupils role-play to practise asking and answering questions about favourite things in
pairs, using picture cues.
Step 4: Invite some pupils to practise asking and answering questions in front of the
class.

- Pupils vote for the best introduction in groups.
