Guidelines for Presenter Group


1. All members of Group 1 study Macionis' book, 16th edition, chapter 14 on Race and
Ethnicity.
2. Group 1 conduct a brief research on inter-group relations in Indonesia in the following
manner
a. Choose 2 (two) cases that describe the conditions of relations between ethnic
groups, in the form of cooperation or conflict, that occurred in Indonesia from
2018 to 2024. Study both cases through various reading sources: for example
research reports, journal articles, mass media news, YouTube.
b. Combine the information into one explanation and analyze it with the concepts
that have been explained in the required reading materials, for example
stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination and majority-minority interaction
patterns, and other relevant concepts.
c. Through the results of the analysis, answer the following questions:
i. What is the condition of inter-ethnic relations in Indonesia at this time?
Give your group's opinion.
ii. What can be done to make inter-ethnic relations closer and avoid
problems? Give your group's opinion.
3. The Presenter Group creates presentation materials that contains:
a. Explanation of concepts in intergroup relations (race and ethnicity) sourced
from Macionis' book
b. Description/explanation of two cases of intergroup relations taken by the group
c. Analysis of the case above using the concepts of intergroup relations that have
been explained previously.
d. Conclusions from the results of the analysis
e. List of references.
4. Technical guidelines for presentation
a. Maximum duration of presentation: 30 minutes
b. Make presentations that are easy to understand, with relevant
visualizations (charts, graphs, photos etc.)
c. Upload the presentation in EMAS2
d. File name : SOCIO2024_group …(write group number)_session 10

Guidelines for non-presenting group


1. Each member of non-presenting group reads and studies mandatory and supporting
reading materials,
2. Each group prepare examples/issues relevant to the topic, and provide responses or
questions to the results of group presentations.
