Section B. Fill in the Blanks (10 marks)
Fill in each blank with the most suitable word(s) and write your answer in the spaces provided below.
1. During respiration, chemical energy stored in a kind of sugar called
________________________________ is converted into other forms of energy to support our
movement.
2. Living things can detect and respond to changes in the surroundings. Anything that causes a
living thing to react is called a ________________________________.
3. After photosynthesis, the gas collected from plant should turn hydrogencarbonate indicator from
red to ________________________________.
4. Cutting down a lot of trees reduces the absorption of carbon dioxide, leading to excessive
greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. This process is known as
________________________________.
5. In a food chain, arrows are used to show the feeding relationship between
________________________________ and consumers, or between two consumers.
6. When we put a leaf into hot water, gas bubbles will appear because oxygen comes out of the leaf
through ________________________________.
7. The lungs contain a lot of ________________________________, which can increase the
surface area for gas exchange to take place.
8. To correct short sight, we need to wear glasses with ________________________________ lens.
9. The area on the retina which gives the clearest vision is called
________________________________. It contains the most light receptors.
10. When we are moving, we need our cerebrum to give orders to our muscle and our
________________________________ to coordinates our body balance so that we won’t fall.
